Wouldnt an orange pad instead of the one it has on have ruined this rifle?

What color do you think that pad was when it was put on?

Nice looking well used rifle.
I imagine there is a story or two in it's past.

Unless I am missing something, which is entirely possible, it should go for more than the $10-15K predicted.

I looked at it at the Beinfield show in Vegas, condition will hold it down some, but it is mostly original and a rare early specimen. I think it will bring more than the estimates, and there is a 15-22% buyer premium on top of that depending on how you bid. Doesn't matter to me, got my eyes on some of the shotguns.

Shootaway,

As I read your question and pondered a bit, I believe orange would not improve the rifle. I like it as is.

This just hammered for $33k plus buyer premium ($37,950 total). Guess the mint version Schwandt had a year ago was a bargain.
