I started a new build this week. I won't be doing a fully detailed build documentation of this one because it will basically be just like the other Jones Underlevers I've built. I will post updates though as the build progresses.

Colin, Great Website! You have me dreaming of a 775 Rigby aka the 10 Bore that was in an article by Jim Dickson in the 1996 issue of Gun Digest........I fell in love with that double every since I first read the article. In fact I loved it so much that I actually cut out the article from Gun Digest and actually LAMINATED the pages to save it for prosperity. I did the same with an '88 article from Guns & Ammo by Ross Seyfried talking about the 4 and 8 bores......great read too, I must say!!! October Country was making a round ball doubles for a few years, but has since quit; It is refreshing that people like YOU remake and pay homage to the old lead and BP Dangerous Game age. JFYI, the 10 Bore that I loved so much was set up for 1350 grain conicals, and sported a 1:41" twist with 26" barrels (and a spare set of smooth bore water fowling barrels that were 32 inchers). As much as I would love a 8 Bore, after having a Titanium spinal fusion of 14 vertebrae, I can handle the recoil of my .416 Rigby (any more and I am hesitant of bending "hardware"; and I definitely don't want another surgery if I can help it, and that 10 bore would be the max for me. Thanks for sharing Your Website! I subscribed to your channel on YouTube, and am very impressed. THANK YOU COLIN for keeping the true BIG; BIGGEST of BORES alive!!! clap

There is something about a Jones Underlever rifle, either single or double, that is so compelling! I really look forward to your builds Colin and personally I'm chuffed it's another Jones. Great work so far!!

I know it has been many months since I have update this build or my blog at all for that matter. I’ve had a few set backs with this project and ended up missing the delivery deadline. First real set-back was when my milling machine broke the main drive gear in the geared head unit. In any case the video below is the current state of the 8 Bore, basically all of the metal work is complete and it is ready to be inlet into wood. Since I missed the delivery deadline on this project and this was being built on a trade deal I had worked out, I simply returned the Trade rifle to the customer with compensation for delivery of his rifle to me and for the small amout of shooting I did with it while it was in my possession. Unfortunately that leaves this 8 Bore as a speculation build in my shop, so I’m going to set it on a back burner and work on it as time permits. I’ll be moving on to the next paying project shortly.

If anybody would like to buy up this 8 Bore project please email or call me to discuss it, my contact information can be found at Stolzer Gunsmithing.
