I would have ticked "other" for 378 Wby but since I have 4 of 'em Big Grin

My pick after 378/Mark V would be 375 RUM/HS Precision.

Actually, with TWO .395s being planned (one is at the smith's, the other awaiting the reamer), I don't think I should vote. However, an extra .375H&H barrel I have will be installed on my son's Rem 700 sometime after this hunting season. Seems his .300 Ultra-Mag is tearing things up a bit. Roll Eyes

Yes the .375/.338 Lapua Mag. is sweet.
2RECON is the member here who did it in about 2000 in Germany, called the 9.5x69mm Tornado, among other things.

Treibel is supposed to have reloading dies for it, though I never could complete an order for the dies from them. They dropped the ball after I threw it their way twice. Is it the Atlantic Blackhole problem again?

Another Ripfraff Rifle:
Dan Lilja No.6 fluted stainless 25.75" barrel, 6 groove 1:12" twist, CZ 550, holds 4 down in the box.

Forend mounted sling swivel base is on a bar of steel imbedded under barrel:

New Nike sneakers are very comfortable:

.375 Lapua is second from right:

.375 Ruger exreme left, and dummy .395 Ruger Max is second from left (the actual cartridge will use same headspace gage as the .375 Ruger):

My first choice is the 375H&H but I have three already so my vote was for the 376 Steyr. The steyr is alot of power in a small package and is an easy rebarrel and conversion for surplus mausers. Also take off 375H&H barrels can often be turned/ cut back and reamed for the Steyr chamber. My vote was for the Steyr. R.

Or a more accurate take:

Even though the 375H&H has been available for 95 years and anybody who has ever wanted one, or or needed a 375 of any description, has had ample opportunity to acquire one, 48% of respondents indicate that their next 375 acquisition will still be a 375H&H.

Or this equally accurate take:

Despite its alleged benefits, despite a major on going marketing effort by the rifle and ammo maker, despite the wow factor of being new and despite un unsaturated market, fewer than 30% of respondents indicate that their next 375 acquisition will be a 375 Ruger.

Or...Depsite a 94 year head start, the H&H only recieved 18 more votes than the 375 Ruger, a newcomer to the 375 scene.

The 375 Ruger appears to have a good following, for such a young cartridge, indicating a long and sucessful career. Big Grin

375 H&H! If I need more gun and recoil, I'll use a 416 or 458. Although there is nothing wrong with the others, I prefer the venerable and classy 375 H&H.

Not in the market for another .375 caliber rifle. Had two .375 H&Hs. Gave one to a friend. Kept the M70 SS Classic in an HS Precision stock. Works great.

With three 9,3 caliber rifles and a .458 in the safe I'll build another .338 caliber rifle and one in .416. Don't feel the need for another .375.

Ruger should be a fine case for wildcatting though Big Grin

Gatehouse,

What you say is surely true, But try this version:

Despite 95 years in the market, the H&H received nearly two votes to every one for the 375 Ruger, a heavily promoted newcomer to the field.

While the 375 Ruger appears to have a good following for such a young cartridge, indicating its possible long and successful career, it actual following will only emerge once the marketing blitz is over.

Statistics surely can be twisted. stir

I have had multiple .375 H&H rifles and a .376 Steyr, the latest is a .375 Ruger.

I am thinking I will also try one of the bigger cases, either a RUM or the Weatherby.

0.58 votes per year

375 Ruger
1 year

100 RUM cases = $62 U.S.
20 Weatherby cases = $53 U.S.

The Weatherby is sweet, but not the most economical. Considering the RUM is a close ballistic match, could it be the poor man's 378?

If we assume Ruger knows what it is doing then they have pretty well said the 375 Ruger is for the cheap end of 375 bores while 375 H&H will remain king of 375 bores for the more expensive rifles.

I think a lot of shooters will pick the Ruger 375 over the CZ in 375 H&H if only for the reason that the Ruger has Made in the US.

I don't have any experience with the RUM, but the Weatherby 378 is a dream to shoot, as far as economics are concerned I didn't buy the 378 for economics, but then I believe anyone deciding on a Weatherby has already looked at the cost difference. I really like the deluxe wood stock from factory. Based on some info I have looked at the 378 has approx 20% more energy than the RUM with factory ammo. A little flatter shooting as well.
Back to the topic at hand, History in the H&H or new kid on the block, either way I don't think there is a loser.
Just my 2 cents

I have had the same .375 std H&H for a long time and its served me very well, not a single complaint.

That said, I do prefer the .416 in one form or another for dangerous game.

My latest is the 416/375 Ruger, and pretty sure this little wildcat will be one of the next Ruger rounds to come along...I like the .375 Ruger case..

The 375 Ruger is rideing a wave of gun rag writers glowing reviews! The only reason the writers are writing about it is, there hasn't been a new .375 cartridge since the 376 STYER, and they did the same for it. Trouble is the tide went out, and the waves dried up, and the 375 STYER is someplace back in the back issues of all the parrot cage lining, covered in parrot crap! The 375 Ruger will, IMO, fair better, not because it is such a revelutionary cartridge, but because of the neat little rifle it was introduced in! That was the Styer's down fall, an ugly rifle!

IMO, the pair of rifles made for this new 375 Ruger will be the single reason, if there is one, for the cartridge's quest to become a sinior citizen! The rifle is the key, the new cartridge just got it noticed. I would buy one of the African Hawkeyes, if it were chambered for 9.3X62, or 64, but I have three 375 H&H bolt rifles, and again, IMO, all the other .375 cartridges are simply wanna-be posers, that will never take the place of the old 1912 375 H&H.

375H&H, one rifle for the world! clap

All others......... coffee BORING, or over bore!
