Woodleigh makes a 400 gr. .411 steel jacketed solid. I use it in my 405 Winchester.

Does anyone know if a chamber reamer is available yet for the 400HH?

I believe Pac Nor has a 400 H&H reamer. A phone call would answer that for sure.

They definately list it in their standard chambers, and make a barrel with proper grove too.

I thought the 400 H&H was a .411"... Why are you looking for .410?

Bulldog,
The 40cals are real messy when it comes to bore sizes ... PacNor makes 410", 411" and 412"; Kreiger 0.411" or 0.406" through to 0.409", Lilja 0.408", Douglas 0.410" and Shilen 0.411".
The 0.410" through to 0.412" presumably cover the same calibers?? Confused
Real messy!! Then we have the variations in projectiles shocker
Cheers...

The 400 H&H is intended for .411 bores. Pacific Grinding and Tool had a couple of reamers on the shelf as of last month.

This seems reasonable as the round has been out for some time.

Why one wants one is what don't make sense to me!

Lots of reasons or no reason at all, I guess. First, if you want to say you have all the H&H proprietary cartridges and you're working your way up to the 465 H&H; or because you know the 450/400 was one of the all-time classic cartridges and you want one that matches it in a bolt gun; or you've had or still have all of the 416s and 458s made and you want another 40-something; ad ifinitum.

Or you can be like me and do stuff just because I drew the short straw.

Kreiger supplied the initial barrels to Holland for the .400 H&H, and reamers have been avialable for some time. Wolfgang Romey loaded the original ammo using the same Woodleigh bullets used in the .400 Jeffery (.450/.400).

I would go for the Woodliegh solid.
