i had AHR build me a 404 on the CZ 550 action. I wanted a very nice wood stock looking like a african safari rifle of old. They more than did the job. The rifle is awesome, I was impressed with the workmanship and the accuracy shocked me, at 100 yds it was under 1 inch with both softs and solids. they loaded the softs with 400 grain tsx and wooleigh solids. I took it to cameroon last month and it performed perfectly, my closest shot was 80 yards lonest 220 and the bullets were perfect. although not cheap AHR does a great job and is worth a phone call if you want a great rifle

I am his friend and shot the Rifle and it is awesome. We asctually both shot it and had bullets touching at 100 yds. Of course he banged it up pretty good in the Cameroon. Now it has alot of character and shots good.

Certainly a "best quality" 404 Jeffery from the looks of it.
Great bolt handle, wood, and stock design, trigger and safety improved, classy classic.
Hey the floorplate is not recessed into the wood like on the usual CZ!
Standard 5 down in the box?
With those crossbolts and pillared glass bedding it would not even need a secondary recoil lug on the barrel, but I am guessing it has one.
What is the barrel make, length, twist, and muzzle diameter, if you don't mind?
Great looking and shooting gun, eh? So what kind of barrel is it that does so well with 400-grain TSX, please?
I'll bet this drums up some business for AHR. thumb

i would have to tell you to ask AHR about details on barrel etc but yes it holds 5 and shoots lights out with 400 TSX and the solids are virtually in the same place maybe 1/4 inch off if that I shot small antelope at 125 yds with solids and softs and held the same

Well, let's hope Bitterroot can tell us about the barrel:
make?
TWIST?
length?
muzzle diameter?
secondary recoil lug on barrel?

Frankly, I'm not crazy about the checkering style, the grip cap or the fore end tip treatment, but those are personal styling preferences only and nothing of substance.

Glad to hear she shoots as straight as she does and, being a .404, I know she hits hard.

AHR know what they are doing and build solid rifles that will get the job done.

Yep, the "French Slut" checkering, as Bent called it, is a bit out of place, but the rest I could live with.
BTT.
AHR are not talking about the 404J barrels specs, or are too busy replicating this pattern in 700AHR's.

.............Gorgeous..........I,m glad it shoots so well ... .I like the checkering ,Alot .......Were it mine I would want the Band sling eye about 4-5 " toward the muzzel and the fore end about 3 " longer .,.,.,.,.,But whereas it is not my rifle , I think it is beautiful and hope it lives a long and active life with its owner ..... Way to go .. clap

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....
