Mike McRon,
I often wonder if we will ever see a 500 Wby?
The 460's barrel contour should be fine for a 500 so existing stocks etc would all be OK. Based on 2600 clain for 500 grain 460 they could reasonably well claim 2500 for 600 grain 500. I don't think they would ever release a calibre that was under 2500 f/s
Although Wby is a long way down the track from having to have the biggest or fastest and a 500 Wby would still be well behind the bigger wildcats.
Besides that, the people who dropped a bundle to get a done up 460 would be real pissed off

Robgunbuilder12 GaFH-Caliber .729, bullet weight 2000grs, velocity 2000fps( acheivable but not survivable).Personal limit 1910fps- ONCE!)
Recoil limited. No signs of excess pressure and cases poped out of chamber. These numbers could easily be bettered with a faster powder.
1000gr bullets-3200fps-Rob

RIP12GFH
.729/2000gr@1910fps (SD = .5376)

TKO = 397.8
BSI = 1782 centisaeed
BS = 17.82 saeed
A BS of 1.0 saeed or BSI of 100 centisaeed (.375/300gr@2450fps to be exact) is sufficient to kill anything on the planet 100% dead under ideal conditions. Since shite happens, this may be practically considered a 95% confidence level. Hence the need for overkill.

RobgunbuilderRIP- thanks those are some good numbers! I think Ed Hubel put some 12 Ga 3/4 oz sabots into low earth orbit some time back with his 12 GaFH. I think they went well over 4000 fps.- Rob

What sort of powder charge do you use, amount and type. As I remember you make the cases from 50 BMG by having rim screwed onto the base??
What do use for projectiles.
I have a headache and sore neck from just reading the ballistics

It sort of makes the 378 and 460 look like calibres to use in your lounge room
