Any suggestions on how I could get 2 DG Bolts and a Big Double all in one case, yet keep the weight reasonable?! (the guns alone weigh 42 pds total, then the case, which will put me well over 50pds airline limit)..I am by myself...Videographer is over limit with camera gear! Thanks

M K Owen made it for me,It is a copy of the Holland/Holland for the Maherajah of Something, the only one Holland made for Cordite ever!It is a true SideLock,Hammerless,Top lever and is regulated at 50yds with 2000gr Custom Jacketed Softs and Solids@1400fps and put them touching at 50!I took two buff with it last year in Tanz and will take 2 more in a few weeks with it and 2 more with the other "baby guns"!Send me your email and I will send you some pics..I just had it 100% Deep Releif Engraved with Wooly Mammoths,T-rex and others, plus era plants, trees an smoking volcanoes! It is Awesome...Now,how far did I carry it you ask?...Well,I finally figured to use my brain and not my back,so the gunbearer carries it in a leather cup harness I had made till I need it on the final stalk...I carry the light gun(600OK) till then! Smiler

Last time I went to Zim I took 2 doubles and a drilling, and a handgun, my wife took a bolt rifle, a double and a drilling.

We used 3 Tuf-Pacs, a duffle bag for clothes and 2 carryons.

I would recommend you use 2 Tuf-Pacs as your checked baggage, the 2 light rifles in one and the 26 poounder in the other.

With the TP there will be room and weight allowance for clothes etc.

You will also probably have to carry a heavy carryon. I like the Patagonia MLC [Maximum Legal Carryon]. Mine usually weighs 40+ pounds as I have extra scopes, camera flashlights etc as well as a change of huntijng clothes.Dont ask Don't Tell].

On a recient Alaska flight I was charged for overweight baggage for a 52lb and a 54lb bag. Mad

If I would have known that I would have packed them to 69 lbs.

They didn't suggest that you just move 2lb from one into the other and then have only one overweight bag?

I was fortunate on my trip to Tanz last year...my main checked bag was 72 lbs going and 73 lbs coming back...they let me through both ways...thought I was going to have to dump something. Meanwhile, my Pelican case with 2 rifles and no space to put anything else (the one drawback), was well underweight (around 40 lbs).

Great idea with the 2 Tuffpacks, BTW. That could just be the ticket for SK.

PS: After the British Airways scare last summer they really cracked down on the weight of carry on bags.....keep an eye on your airline restrictions. I almost got screwed by the difference between Air Canada and KLM. AC allowed 2 carryons of 10kg each, KLM only allowed one. Fortunately the very pretty lady at the KLM check in counter was nice enough to overlook my error in packing two carryon bags. Smiler

Cheers,
Canuck
