The bores are large, but these are pretty wimpy compared to most.

I built these two guns from Saiga-410 shotguns. One is chambered in 375 JDJ and the other 444 Marlin. Magazines are available in 4, 10, and 15 shot capacity. I shot a decent buck in Wyoming with the .375 a couple of years ago.

It was a 225gr Hornady spire point with 49.6 grains of H322. WLR primer

I only tried three different loads and that one shot the best, so I went with it. I did not chrono it.

Question is if you did do a 411 JDJ is the barrel strong enough. Maybe a hybrid chamber to shoot .410 bullets and 410 shotgun shells using 9,3x74 brass and use the forcing cone as the shoulder. Would be interesting to know the chamber dimensions and magazine length. Could get similar 405 win performance and shoot 410 shotgun shells. Could be a good excuse for a 410 wildcat.

It really didn't take much to pull it off compared to some of my other projects. Just a new barrel and little extractor tweaking. The rim on the 444 is thicker than on a .410. The gas system is stock, albeit the gas ports are smaller on the rifles. These are the largest big bore autos that I have made, so far. A few others I have done in the past...........

I have one of Tony's AR uppers he made ages ago in 50 AE and it is the heat for shooting hogs.

I am eagerly awaiting the next onversion to spring forth from his brain.

Will a 270 spire point Hornady feed through the mag on the JDJ? The pic with the 225 gr looks like it takes up all of the magazine.

I never tried a 270, but if the front end is any longer than a 225, it's not going to fit in the magazine.

The 444 on the other hand, has plenty of room. It actually feeds better running 300 grain bullets seated long. In the Saiga shotguns, the feed ramp is actually a barrel hood extension that extends over the chamber....similar to a .357 Coonan pistol. The OAL of the round needs to be long enough to get the bullet tip under that hood. If it is too short, the bullet will hang up on the front edge of the extension.

With the 270 Hornady interlock base seated to the base of the neck, the over all length of the cartridge is 3.105" in my loaded ammo. I used Jones-his-own-self's load data for my load development. Never tried seating them any deeper.

I never tried any of the lighter bullets in mine, just the 270's and 300's. My barrel seems to prefer that 270 Hornady to anything else.

I was thinking the same thing, "Hog Gun". I would prefer a heavier bullet though. Don't know why, just the way I'm pre-disposed I guess? That and a rock-solid scope mount with about a 1-4x or 2-6x scope. Don't know about the mount in the picture, looks "delicate"?

Would also have to do something about that stock... damn that's ugly. What if someone I know saw me with it?

I know the old saying that if you have to ask, you can't afford it, BUT...

What ball park does something like the JDJ version of that thing go for? I'd be curious about one in 309 JDJ, and 375 JDJ (maybe-the bullet weight limitations would be a factor)? Would a 309 JDJ with a 180 gr partition feed through the gun?
