If you could take and three rifles on a safari (all types of game and chambering. Shotgun to muzzle loader to bolt to double to single shot to lever action to wildcat) what would they be? The twist... Not just say a "416 Rigby" but say "Selby's 416 Rigby" or "TR's 405" or "Selous 4 bore" or it could be from your gun safe or just a rifle you have been lusting after many years. Extra kudos for posting pics. Let's see who has the best trio! Cheerio!

Denys Finch Hatton’s 256 Mannlicher, 350 rigby, and 450 Charles Lancaster. And his 20 bore Army Navy for the birds.

Or maybe Brain Hernes 7-shot 458 win mag for the big gun.

I was and am perfectly happy with the three guns I actually took on my first African hunt: My .505 SRE, my Krieghoff .458WM O/U DR with extra barrel sets in .375 H&H and 20 gauge 3" Magnum, and my pre-64 Model 70 .300 H&H.

If I wanted a variation, I might substitute my Krieghoff O/U DR in .500 NE, with an extra barrel set in 12 gauge, and my pre-64 Model 70 .375 H&H for the first two mentioned.

(3)rifle battery. OK, I’ll play.

However, I’m like xausa. I guess I prefer my own rifles to someone elses.

Ballistically, I like the old classic best:

Big bore: 458 (Lott)
Med. bore: 375 (H&H)
Sm. bore: 30 (30-06)

But my favorite is:

BB: 404 Jeffery
MB: 338, 358, or 9.3
SB: 280 Rem.

All bolt rifles, preferably, AHR CZs, Dakotas, or Ruger RSM/Express’.

But what specific rifle? could it be Jack Lott's personal 458 Lott? One of the many elegant 375 or 30-06 from the likes of Purdey or Westley Richards? No Double rifle?
