mr.pepperjust saw the video on hornadys site and they seem to very good. one video has sherrif jim wilson taking an elk with a 444 marlin with the new ammo. hornady says the a 30/30 is now capable of taking deer sized game at 200 yards
never before imaginable with a 30/30.

wrongtargetActually with the 160gr .30-30 loads, you should be able to take deer at
300yds with a 1000 ft/lb mimimum energy requirement!!! Provided those specs are with realistic length test barrels!!
Midsouth will be shipping the .30-30 and .35 Rem ammo next week.

They'll have to download it to 1600 fps to get maximum penetration.

JOEYBONESActually I do have a double rifle, I took some duct tape and taped together my 45-70 guide gun and my 375 H&H model 70 . I am having a bit of trouble regulating it though.

longshotsI called Hornady today and spoke with a Techie about those rubber tipped bullets. My first thought when I saw them was what happens to them in extreme cold. Alaska winter caribou hunting was what I was thinking about. I could imagine a soft rubber point becoming quite hard at-20 F. Well according to them ,they tested them at -20,using a drop test. They were trying to simulate a lever action falling out of a scabbard from a horse. They dropped the guns on their butts on hard ground. No problems. The rubber tips were harder than normal, but supposedly safe.I still have reservations about their safety, but thats just me.

500grainsIs this for real??????
Spitzer bullets in a tubular magazine?
08 November 2005, 21:59
Lowrider 49Looks like a hell of a deal!! I want 'em in 7mm at 130 gr for 7-30 Waters and .257 at 100 grs for the 25-35 AI too.
Actually, a two shot lever gun shooting spitzers is not really much of a handicap unless you're protecting yourself from big teeth and claws. You're only supposed to need one shot anyway.
If the specs are real, it looks like these will work pretty well to 300 yds if you can get your lever to shoot that well out there. I think maybe my 30-30 and .35 Rem need to retire the Lyman peep and get some glass on top.
I want components!!
The year of the .30-06!!
100 years of mostly flawless performance on demand.....Celebrate...buy a new one!!
