470 MbogoMerry Christmas Chris,
That is very cool. It definitely moved the mass. How much spine was involved in that test. The bullet shows lots of sign of heavy resistance. John makes one hell of a good bullet. Mind if my Son puts that one up on the site?
Take good care,
Dave

A lot! You can see by the entrance it definitely hit the spine where it dips into the chest cavity. We guessed anywhere from 12 to 18 inches??

There is no doubt about that!

470 MbogoHi Keith and Merry Christmas.
Hey Chris is just happens Adrian is up for Christmas so he whipped the videos up to the site. They are really good looking clips. Both shots took out heavy bone structure and you can't fault any test medium.
Take good care,
Dave

I've got a couple more clips coming, but the footage isn't as good. Stay tuned.

Hi Keith,
Pictures wouldn't show much. I do have a pic of the bullet in question on the FN Solid thread that RIP started.
Here's a link to a lower res version of the video above...
I can't tell how big the file is on Photobucket. Hopefully that helps though!
Cheers,
Canuck

CanuckKeith,
Here is another one. Its a small file...just shows the shot, at half speed...
Photobucket changes the format and makes it blurry. I tried putting another one on
www.huntingfootage.com, but apparently I have exceeded my limit for number of uploads in 24hours.

Canuck

.366torqueCanuck where did you aquire the Bridger Solids?
26 December 2006, 09:09
CanuckDirectly from the manufacturer. I just read that Bridger is not making bullets any more though.

Hopefully it is a temporary sit'n. (?)
Cheers,
Canuck

470 MbogoI wonder what velocity you would get out of the AR round with that long bullet and short OAL. That's one advantage of a large capacity case. I can shoot 560 GS Customs out of the 470 Mbogo without a problem. The 540 Bridger's are a little longer even and it will still reach 2400 fps without a problem.
Only one more day to go.
Have a great New Year you guys,
Dave

jeffeossoDave,
yep, that long bullet would be the trade off. Now, if a fella wanted, he could put a 375 magboxin his ruger and seat the bullets way out. Or, as I would prefer, shoot 450gr bridgers at full speed..
The mbogo is certainly the best "heavy hunter" out there.. easier to shoot than the 550s, morepunch than a lott, and FAR more case than the 470 AR.
it's the mbogo's punk little brother !!

Hog KillerCanuck,
Thanks for the extra effort, for those of us on dial-up.

Not only did you rock that buff, but the Bridger bullet hole realy shows up. I guess that is what happens when you use a bullet with a sharp meplat edge. Hopefully, they will be back in production again, soon.
