Gunsmith called today. Said my Ruger MK-II in .395 Ruger Max will be completed, less barrel finish (BBQ black will take care of that), tomorrow morning! Hornady dies have been shipped and are due tomorrow! GSC bullets from RIP are due tomorrow! MACIFEJ bullets are due later this week!

Max,
Congrats. You might be the first to blood a .395 in over a century! thumb
Check for incoming bullets now!
I am tracking incoming .395 Ruger Max Dies now!
Good work by you with the turtle-prod on that one. thumb

I hope to shoot some more dangerous water buckets this weekend. DWB, hopefully not charging DWB, but DWB nevertheless. Then I need a cow elk or bison. Tasty.

Charles,
holycow I'm not going to shoot a "moo cow" and I don't think Max wants to shoot a dairy cow either. I meant "cow elk" or "cow bison."
Cool .gif however, thanks.

Sorry -- I did not mean the smiley to imply that the shooting would be done at a domestic cow, but I could not find a .395 shoots elk graphic.

Accept my congratulations on the rapidly-expanding .395 family.

Congrats accepted, Charles. This December cow elk hunt in Colorado has become a necessity for the Dept of Wildlife to manage the expanding herds in the Northwest part of the state.

Now as far a bison are concerned, I would like to do that once my Ruger #1 is converted to .400NE! Have the rifle, new barrel, smith, cases, bullets, etc. As soon as Dave Manson completes the reamer, I'll be able to use an 1880s cartridge with definitely sufficient power.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay Coooooooool!!! As the kiddies say today.

It will be a race as to whether the 395 or 550 strikes first. Bison hunt coming up shortly. Wouldn't it be great if I could talk Macifej into cutting me a few .551"/625gr solids off a round of his alloy?

It is really neat to see some of the experimentation coming to fruition here this second half of 2007.

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to R Neal Shirley and Marc Jamison for the Gibbs cylindrical brass, and to Dave Manson for cutting the reamers for the 550 Gibbs. And, to Joel and Patty at NEI for tolerating several changes to mould designs for the cartridge. God Bless them all, and Saeed for giving me bandwidth to record what is happening.
