I had a chance to slip out to the range today and shoot the "ragged out ole M-70."

Apparently she still shoots.

This is a 3 shot 50 yard group with the express sights.

These are 270 gr Barnes TSX bullets with a load of 74Gr of IMR 4320 in a WW case.

Looks like it shoots way to the right. I think you need to just junk it. Better yet...send it to me since we are getting transfered to Alaska and I think it might just shoot good enough for my use. LOL
Great group!

Here is the really cool news. The front sight is tapped out to the left slightly so I am guessing that a small tap to the right which will center the sight will zero the windage.

Unfortunately I somehow managed to get to the range without my tool kit so I was unable to make any adjustments today. Not to mention that it was colder than witches tit in a brass bra in Siberia and the wind was blowing about gale force 5 so I wasn't to motivated to mess around to much outside today.

Here is the REALLY cool news with that load which is my favorite all around git er done load. She shoots just over the sights at 50 yards and dead on the sights at 100 yards. Of course she is about 5 inches right at 100 right now.

You wouldn't believe the group she shot at 100 with irons. I had two touching and one about 2 inches to the right of the first two. She is a TACK driver!

Surestrike that sure was sweet deal you got there and a nice shooting classy rifle to boot.
I am really excited for you, the only thing more exciting would be if I would have found that rifle!
Hey when we get a break in this weather we could get together and shoot a bit then grab something at the South forty, I'm sure you know where that is over by Kiowa.
Once again great rifle and great find.

Gumboot.

Thanks. I haven't chronoed the load out of this rifle but I am guessing right at about 2700FPS.

I'd love to come up and shoot a moose. I haven't been back to Alaska since 9-11.
