The man just does quality work. I have minimal machinist skills, but I can follow the work as it progresses and appreciate the thought involved.

Killing you? ? ? It doesn't even have a firing pin yet, how could I be killing you?
Unless of course you mean you want one, in which case all it takes is money and time, you provide the money and have the patience to wait the time, I will provide the rest.

CowboyCSPatience Grasshopper...I've been working on it, but I've also been out of town more than a couple days the last few weeks doing follow-up visits from my son's truck wreck back in October. Just so nobody has to ask, he is doing much better, physically he has been fully cleared, but we are still seeing a neurologist related to the concussion. He has been diagnosed with Post concussion syndrome....6 months to 2 years average recovery....long term minor linger effect the rest of his life. Basically he rattled his brain around to much and it's just going to take time for the neural pathways to heal, and some of them may never be fully restored. He's doing well though and we don't have any more Doctors visits for more than a month now, so maybe I can get back the work bench with fewer interruptions now.
I've got the main action body/toptang almost inlet, regardless of how much I have done I will post an update this weekend so that everybody can see the piece of maple that is going on this thing.

CowboyCSBigdoggy, does your wife complain that you spend more time with your 2 - 2 Bores than with her?
I finally got the next update posted, yes with pictures of the wood and the beginning of the inletting process:

bigdoggy700She knows what I'm doing, always messing with guns. It doesn't bother her because she knows that besides her and the kids, its my true passion. Pretty understanding I guess. She knew I was a gun nut when we got married 20 years ago.

CowboyCSJust to keep you all entertained, I cast some roundballs over the weekend, mostly just to verify the mould(not that I have ever been any thing but pleased with the quality of Jeff Tanner's Moulds) and to seat a few in some cases so I can verify measurements before I make the Chamber Reamer.
It weighs over a pound(according to my kitchen scale) and measures 4.144"OAL. Until you actually have one in your hand it's really hard to conceive of how massive this really is.

300H&HDoes it double as a drink shaker?
I'd pay the see the look on people's faces when you casually pulled that shell out... then the rifle.
A heck of a project and I'm glad to see someone thinking outside the box, even if it's out of this world!

CowboyCSI've had an empty brass sitting on my desk in my shop office since I got them back at the beginning of this project, and everybody who wonders into the shop, it is almost the first thing they ask about....it's just sort of an expression of disbelief that it is even real.
I don't drink anymore(gave that up a long time ago), but I would guess that if you plug the primer pocket it would make a really nice shot glass.

CowboyCSI would have posted an update yesterday, but I ran into a little problem with the stock and was waiting to hear back from my customer so I knew whether I had to start over with a new stock blank or if the blemish in this one was going to be acceptable. In any case I go the new update posted this morning:
2 Bore Jones Underlever Page 4I leave decisions like this up to my customer, when it's just a visual issue, but have a look at the latest pictures of the stock and tell me what you would do if it was your money in this project.

jeffeossoif it were mine, i'd ask you to start over ... and i'd be calling the wood guy, explaining that sometimes the wood does have hidden faults... though the last time *I* had a problem with a blank, you would have thought I was an evil scoundrel, trying to steal from the guy ....
