All this chatter amuses me. Years ago I made a mold for casting silver bullets for the chastised 458. Yep, silver. Needless to say the WereWolves stay away. Do not even have to fire a round, if a WW sees the rounds in the cartridge belt it is "Feet Don't Fail Me Now" for my WW friend. Thinking of trying the bullets out in the nearby Sasquatch country.

I think you are a bit under gunned for Sasquatch.......

We think alike. After all, 'Ol Squatch outweighs a WereWolf by about 800 pounds. A skeleton below from the local tribe. That axe handle is 3 feet long.

WoodHunter, I bet if you put some Harbor Freight Red powder-coat paint on those "silver" bullets they would work even better on werewolves and vampires. A bandoleer ammo belt filled with those huge red slugs across your chest might even lure them into range, color of blood. If your tactics change and you need to go "Tactical/Ninja" on them, get some matte black powder-coat. Tone down the shine on those "silver" bullets. Flashing those things around while reloading might give your position away. If you are just going "Cowboy" or "Lone Ranger" on those WW&V, then leave the bullets silver. Nice bullet, how do they shoot in a .458 Win.Mag.? Anyone who claims the .458 Winchester Magnum is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own sheepishness. At the price of silver these days you better hollow point those bullets so you can dig them out and re-cast them.

I recall an article in a gun magazine about 30 years back where they tried to cast bullets from pure silver and things didn't go too well. Since that time, I've been getting silver alloy bullets from Oregon trail and there have been a few positive results- no vampires have attacked and since a 458 Win Mag is involved, the town of Leavenworth has be protected against rampaging rogue elephants. Your bullets do look nice. How hot do you need to get the melt?

Just wondering if silver is also good medicine for zombies? Or is it just werewolves and vamprires? You gotta know somebody who ever tried this on the undead! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ColdBore 1.0 - the ballistics/reloading software solution http://www.patagoniaballistics.com

Silver is $16.42/ounce today. Specific gravity of sterling silver 10.36. Specific gravity of the lead alloy those bullets are really made of is about 11. I am guessing the bullet is a 540-grainer in lead alloy. So, cast in silver it would weigh about 509 grains. 437.5 grains per ounce. Cast in silver the bullet would weigh about 1.16 ounce, worth about $19.04 in silver content. But worth much more if you need to dispatch a werewolf or vampire in a dire situation. Could be a real life saver. Whatever the market will bear, from a greater fool than I. I would not buy them unless I knew how well they shoot in a .458 Win.Mag., unless a werewolf or vampire was chewing on me. Anyone who claims the .458 Winchester Magnum is ineffective has either not tried one, or is suffering from .458 Winchester Magnum Derangement Syndrome. Rip...
