new 505 gibbs on its way.
man i can hardly wait i just ordered a brand new ryan breeding bolt action 505 gibbs

the actions is a granite mountain arms the barrel is going to a 22" stainless with a black finish on it and a turkish walnut stock it will hold 3 down 1 in the pipe and for 1000$ more i can add another round 4 down 1 in the pipe.

basicaly here is a bpick of the rifle im having made.

its the 9th one down from the top i belive

http://www.rbbigbores.com/projects.html

the load is going to push a 600 grain wooligh protected point or 600 grain mono solid at 2500 fps this rifle is going to be my new elephant gun and hopefully it will take many.

700 nitro
fritz i need to talk to you about making me some 600 grain solids i need them to be exact duplicates nose shape wise and the woodliegh bullet so im looking for more of a traditional nose design.

Exciting.
What's the lead time? I imagine that $1k extra round is easy to pass on. Getting 5 rounds of 505 off in an emergency seems about as unlikely as six.

i asked for the rifle in 12-13 monthes.

im going to stay with the 3-1 if i cant kill it with that many shots i have no business in the bush.

this guys rifles are amazing i seen some very good work come off his shelf and a few people i know like mark bucannon who owens big bore productions owens a few 2-3 of his guns also 500 grain from this site highly recomends his work.

his prices are fair for what he dose and he dose it well.

and after that rifle is done ill probably grab another searcy double.

Hi 700
You've made a good choice going with Ryan. I've know him and his work since 1996 and it's top of the line. You'll have to post some pictures when you get it.
Take care,
Dave

a brake what the hell is a brake.........lol youd have to give me the rifle for free if it had one.

as much as i love my 700's and the such the 505 is a much more practial big bore to hunt with. and ill admit that here thats why im going with it. its putting damn near the same energy out with that load as my 700 but in a rifle thats 6-7 pounds lighter and has 4 shots instead of 2 and is a 1/4 the cost.

as long as im in the 7000+ foot pounds and up range im happy.

700 nitro,

That 505 ought to be a real thumper! I looked at his rifle's at the last SCI convention in Reno and I was impressed with his work. Are you going with the rear island sight or a 1/4 rib?

Suggest to Ryan that he not TIG weld the barrel recoil lug to the barrel on your gun. Tell him HARD SPOTS in the barrel just bother you! Also make sure he can demonstrate( in person) that it feeds reliably with your bullets before you take posession. Just some good advice. Thats not too much to ask for 12.5K -Rob

rob iv already discussed the possiblity of using a least custom solids and he said i should get those to him asap so that he can make shure they feed he loves making 505's it his favorite caliber thats why i was going to have the soilds made to replicate woodlieghs that way everything works 110%

i just figure might a use the best solid there is and that a mono solid.

700 nitro,
I am not interested enough to waste the time of Mr. Breeding who should hopefully be working on your rifle.

So the .585 GMA and .585 Express are variations on the .577 T.rex theme.

I will be looking for some specs on these just out of curiosity. My rifle use ends after .510 caliber, whether bolt action or double. Still, I am open to learning about new cartridges, as any gunnut is.

I also do not have any craziness about wood and wood upgrades. Maybe Dakota couldn't make enough money off of me so I am nevertheless honoring them by using a Dakota 76 African action from Brownell's to build a .423 Lapua, to my own specs, African Sheep Rifle style with some minor refinements.
