I hope to have pictures posted later of shooting it. We tested out shots using Pioneer FFG for the powder. It runs about 15% hotter than Black powder. We used black powder equivelent loads of 230 grains to 425 grains and all went smooth. The final loads kicked a lot. But had a great time shooting on a beautiful sunny afternoon. I may need help posting some pictures we took. I will try to get them on soon. I have to admit with all the big guns I have shot over the past 27 years, I still got a huge rush out of shooting King Kong! Our top loads were producing about 335 ft.lbs of recoil at 31 ft./sec. My chronograph crapped out but from past data, and load progression at the start, the top loads that we fired were sending the 3500 grain balls down range at about 1170'/sec for about 10,600 ft.lbs. Needless to say, it was a blast!! More later, Hopefully with some pictures posted soon.

The 4 holes in the plywood are fairly far apart, but there were 5 small targets on the plywood while we were shooting. The deformed ball was taken out of a tree behind the target and was about 10" deep in the trunk. There is a 9mm shell in between the fired, recovered ball and an un shot ball for size reference. The targets were shot at 50 yards. The gun is shooting a little low, as the front sight was left tall to file down after sighting in. I have 4 short videos that were taken of myself and my son and my brother shooting the gun, but have not figured out how to get them forworded to Macifej yet to get posted. I will work on them tomorrow morning with my son. He knows way more about computers than I do.

I am not sure on the videos, they were taken from a cell phone, forgot the damn digital camera. We are trying to go with a different format. I will keep you posted. I guess the only limit on how powerful this gun can be is how much powder you want to cram down the barrel. I certainly do not want to damage the gun. While the barrel is plenty stout, it is not a really thick barrel or breech. While the gun weighs 21 lbs, it is not a super heavy artilery piece. I probably won't push it a whole lot past what we shot it at yesterday. No real need to. I suppose it would handle a 500 grain load with no problem, but that would be about 1350 ft/sec and 14165 ft.lbs with a whole lot of recoil. What the heck, maybe next time out. I will take a camera with us next time out for sure.

3500 grain ball, 7000 grains to a lb, You're shooting a 2 bore? what does that gun weigh?! Collins

The gun weighs 21 lbs and 14 oz. and has a 36" octagon barrel. It was made by Steve Zihn out of Wyoming. The stock is made of very dense sugar maple. He does very nice work and I am extremely pleased with the way this gun shoots and the way it looks.Fun to shoot also. If you don't care for the really heavy recoil, you can always load it down I guess. I guess that would kind of defeat the purpose of an ultimate big boomer.

So are you going to shoot an 8oz load of #4's for turkey this year? :O Or 8oz of #4 buckshot for those long range ones... Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I don't think it would pattern very well with the slow twist rifling. It's not a smooth bore. Colin

Tyler, Cowboy is right. With rifling at 1:60 or 1:90,(I will have to check) the gun is a slug/ball gun only. I would love to have a big bore blaster with smooth bore barrels some day though. Its all good!!

I understand. It is, because it is, and needs no other practical purpose. Side benefits include hoisting and toting it around is good exercise, and it can be used as a mosquito fogger, or excellent smoke signal generator when pointed skyward ... I tried some squirrel loads in the 12GaFH rifled bore. Any spin of the shot bolus causes centrifugal effects when the shot leaves the barrel, I guess. Bommie, I think that sounds like a great idea. Guys the videos are posted on nitro express under Paradox and bore guns subject. If someone wants to copy and transfer them over here, fine with me.I apologize that they are blurry and low resolution. They were taken with a cell phone camera. Next time I will make sure we have a digital camera with us. If some one needs the emailed to them I can do that too. You need adobe flash player to view them. Which I can't install on my computer,(to old and noncompatable I guess)

I guess I am not as tough as I once was. It took 4 days, but after load development on the 2 bore, a nice green bruise showed up on Thursday. No black or blue, just a nice large pale green one.
