600 OVERKILL OWNERS....Bullet Question/thoughts/test?!?!
Hi "Pardners"...What Bullets are most of you using now? ConfusedThere are more and more coming out now thumb..AHR Coppers,Alaskans,Woodleighs,Barnes Solids,Beartooth Cast and Custom Ones by the Likes of Sir Rob Garnick patriot and others!...I am now curious what velocity could a 1000 or even 1200gr(!) could be pushed and what would penetrate further in say a Big tree..A 750 at 2700 or a 1200 at 1800(?)..."What Say You"?! stir

Tom, I am casting 1,000 grain flat nose now and have shot them to 2,150 but have bad leading of the bore. 1,900 fps works just fine. They give a little extra thump. Still in the early stages playing with alloys and loads. The 30:1 mix opens up to 1-1/4" mushroom on DWG's. Perfect for Whitetails.

I would also like to know how the Alaskan bullet works? Better penetration than the woodleigh?

Im a greenhorn when I comes to shooting lead but wouldnt using gas checks help with the fouling? Are there gas checks availble in .620?

Problem is as the weight goes up you lose case capacity. I originally considered the .600Ok2 as the case for even heavier weight bullets. In that case a 1200gr bullet would not be a problem. -Rob

Try Linotype alloy. I've had consistently good results using it. It resists fouling quite well at those velocities. Gas checks help but not as much as you would think.
Tom- In your guns whats the maximum OAL you can feed from the mag? With that info I can tell you just how heavy a bullet I can make and still feed through your rifle.-Rob
