I have a 416 Rigby in a CZ550. The barrel is 23.5" and I find it unwieldy. I'd like to shorten it to 21". I really don't think I'll loose velocity here but I thouoght I'd get some other moreexperienced opinions. What say guys? Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing.

My CZ550 416 Rigby is 21" and the last elephant I shot died quite dead. I don't even load to max loads either. Doesn't seem to make any difference in real life except to make the rifle more handy. My Brno ZKK 602 in 375 H&H is also 21". SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS

Well, I don't agree with you, but it's your rifle and your enjoyment, so do what ever you want. I just don't happen to agree with the "unweldy" claim. However, to each his own. I don't see velocity as an issue.
