Boomie, I have no idea. It looks like a belted 416 Rigby or 416 Weatherby. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that this is a wildcat invented to sell rifles and the perceived need of this cartridge has already been covered by many commonly available factory cartridges. What I did find interesting is ammo-one.com's statement that "[D]ue to (what we feel is) A-Square's poor customer service we will no longer buy direct from A-Square." That's a pretty strong statement about A-Square IMO. It says a lot about a supplier when vendors have to source your product from third parties - in this case Quality Cartridge. A-Square has historically had some pretty interesting and innovative ideas about the big bore business and publishes a hell of a fine book on them. But they've never been able to service their customers properly. It makes one wonder how they're still in business... Jason "Chance favors the prepared mind."

it is a 416 rem-esque cart based on the 375 h+h case. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

.400 ASDPM is .409 caliber. .400 H&H is .410 caliber. .416 Remington is .416 caliber. .395 GSC is .395 caliber: Finally something really different!

Looks like A-Square renamed their .400 Pondoro cartridge... Maybe the dual purpose moniker is because A-Square hawked that cartidge as being able to shoot both .409 rifle slugs and .410 pistol bullets.

I've got to tell ya'. I've heard so much bad stuff about a-square over the past few years that I too, am afraid to deal with them. I don't know if all of it is true, but, just having the rumors "out there" makes a company suspect. I just truely don't know. Usually, I would give a company the benefit of the dought, and buy from them, and trust, at least half way. But I think it's the rifles that turn me off the most, and the bullets. And the brass. And, the rumors. Anyway, that does look like a .400-Pondoro. If it is not, then it's odd why they would make another almost like it. Yet another odd story. Yep, it was originally the 400 Pondoro built at the request of client "Bruce in Cincinatti?" Sumbuddy check the A-Square manual and verify the name of the originator, please. Repossessed and renamed by A-Square? Had a falling out with Bruce? Just wanted to screw around like they did with the .416 Tayor? That Artie Alphin is a tricky devil.
