I'm putting together a light designed 411. It is on my wildcat case and will have several grains more capacity than the 400 Whelen or the 411 Hawk. Most shooting will be 300s in the 22-2300 range. I had planned on using the Titan 1.25-4? only to find out they have been discontinued. So I'm open for suggestions on a lower power scope?

I have scoped my 458 WM with a Leupold 1-4 VX II (QR mount) and it works well.

I will as soon as it is complete. Only case I have currently is a 340PDK necked up to 400.

It will have express sights. I don't care for the scout type scope. So I figure something i the 1-4 variable range or maybe even just a 4 power.

I've got a Leupold 1.5-5x on my .411/.416 Rem Mag. It's held up really well to even gonzo loads.

Paul,
Look hard on the 2-7x33 Leupold. No big differ between 1,5 and 2, but from 5 to 7 a lot when you need it.

Why not make it a 400 H&H [factory ammo avaiable], and use a 1.5-5 Leupold with the HEAVY DUPLEX.

Ramrod,

I had a Titan 1.25-4 scope on my 404 Jeffery, and it worked great (still have the scope).

You can find them (new and used) on Ebay.

Why are you running the velocities so low on your 400 handloads?
I am shooting the 300 grain Barnes X (original) at 2400 fps in my 400 Whelen A.I.

I think you will enjoy the performance of your rifle on game a great deal.

Yep I keep looking trying to catch a Titan. I have then next higher magnification on my 375H&H and love it.

The 22-2300 was only a low guess to indicate this wasn't a large magnum case. Not sure of the velocity. I will get the barrel along with its 375 brother back this week. Years ago I built a 416 version that gave me 2570 with a 300. My case is a blown out necked up 280. The 2.5" version gives me about 82grs of capacity. I'm going to go with cylinder brass this time so it will be 2.6". Not sure if I will gain that much net capacity but sure will be easier than necking up from 280. My buddy has been using my 416 in Alaska on a long term loan. I doubt I get it back as long as he lives there. Big Grin But he sets up the hunting and fishing trips so fair trade.

N E 450 No2 the reason is pretty simple. A 400H&H wouldn't be a big brother to my other PDK wildcats.
