jeff cooper loved the 460 g&a. with his passing would it not be a cool idea for a custom gunmaker or a limited custom shop tribute rifle in his favorite d.g. cart??? i happen to think it is a way cool cat. here is some info on the subject http://dvc.org.uk/jeff/jeff5_4.html http://www.gunsandammomag.com/long_guns/czsafari_0401/ ahr already makes them http://www.hunting-rifles.com/S550DGR.htm it would be easy for cz to make them and since his was a cz it would be fitting. and they already make the 404 come on c.z. make it a factory cart with hornady. and get hornadyto do a 404 while we are at it. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Wrong bommy, Cooper's "Baby", was built on a Brno ZKK-602, with the reversed safty. (pulled back to fire) Not a popular feature and the 460 G&A offers nothing over the Lott. With less expensive brass, dies, and can be had off the self, the Lott is a much better option. The "cool" factor is just not there for the 460 G&A/ ZKK-602. "Chairman" Jeff, was a very interesting fellow. I got to meet him back in '81 and have supper with him. I enjoyed his company but never did take all of his ideas as "gospel". Damn, boom, we agree on something. Jeff Cooper's 460 is indeed a good cartridge but it would be very expensive to produce using a magnum action in limited numbers. The man had a PHD in History and was very versed in several languages as well. He will be missed. A bit funny about the .460 G&A. Lots of people claims the Ackley is far superior to the Lott, but the G&A is just not worth it........ It should be the most superior .458 of them all, but oh, no. Well, stranger things have happened. Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

Wrong "Hog Killer", those rifles were made by Hoenig, 8 were made (on highly modified ZKK-602 actions) ... BUT...with model 70 type, 3 position safties...I know, I own the sister to Mr. Cooper's rifle. Making-up the ammo is about as difficult as taking a leak! (That is of course if you have the dies) JW

JW, in Cooper's "Fireworks", in the first paragraph, on page 165. He states about the safety working backwords. This may have been changed on later made rifles, but not on the origial. I do not know if JC had this changed out at a later date, but as originaly built it had the as is factory safty. On page 166, in the next to last paragraph, he talks about his "manual of arms' with "Baby". This includes
"Fireworks" is great reading over a wide range of subject matter. Keith IGNORE YOUR RIGHTS AND THEY'LL GO AWAY!!! ------------------------------------ We Band of Bubbas & STC Hunting Club, The Whomper Club

Sounds good to me. After reading Fireworks, 20+ years ago. That got me "planning" a big bore for myself. I still have that "wishlist" of features. That led me to choosing the Rem. 30S, for my Lott.
