If you were going to have the chamber on your No 1 45-70 lengthened, who in Houston would you take it to?

I have not actually had work done by Tip Burns and cannot even say where he is exactly but I know Rusty speaks highly of him as have others and he was very generous and accomodating to me when I made a purchase from him so I would suggest you make contact with Tip or Rusty and go that route.

Tip Burns is not in Hoiston, but I would have him do the work. He did the build on my 375H&H and I would do it again. thumb thumb

Tip does excellant work. And he is a decent fellow to do business with! He has worked on or built several rifles for members of his forum!

Thanks for the input, guys.

I am not planning anything so drastic as 45/120.

I have read about the newer No 1 having a shorter throat than the old (I had a 45-70 back in the 70s and appreciated being able to load any bullet I want...including 500 gr Hornady) and did not want to be limited by the short throat).

I don't have the rifle yet, and will need to do some trials before determining whether this exercise will be deemed worth it. I figured the local Houston contingent would have an informed opinion!

thanks again,

Tim

Wow, Tip has a 6-month backlog and is not taking in any new jobs.

He must be good!
