Believe it or not, I've used flip up 200 yard sights in Africa (and successfully at that). There's a video around somewhere of it. I was using a .375 Express double and though shot pretty dead? the animal decided to run some and I hit it with a left and a right just before it got to Cairo. Some luck, of course, but I sure couldn't have done it with out the flip up option. That said, the quarter rib, at least to me, besides looking good, "draws" you eyes to the iron sights better than an island sight does. The rib is like a railroad track to me and makes it easier to get my consentration where it needs to be. I also really like a shallow "V" with a vertical white line in the rear and a slightly over-sized round white bead for the front sight. Again, JMHO... but enough of one that my Model 70 action that Bijou Creek is working on will have a quarter rib and sights as above related. I've used that set up on a bunch of rifles on a bunch of hunts. It works for me. And, I like those things on women that are useless except for procreation and nursing. JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous. | |||

I think RIP is right! They have the most perfect B&M Platform, in house and on hand and produced every single day there in Columbia SC, the WSM action! Proper fighting rifles in proper big game cartridges, in a proper size rifle! An entire series from 9.3 to .500 and anything desired in between! Makes good sense to me! Too bad I doubt they have the insight for this. Michael http://www.b-mriflesandcartridges.com/default.html The New Word is "Non-Conventional", add "Conventional" to the Endangered Species List!
