I got a chance to go shoot my 2 biggest baddest handguns today. I shot my 460 weatherby 12" encore twice and got 2182ft/sec with the older hot factory loaded 500 grain bullets. I shot my 600 nitro 14" encore 3 times and averaged 1664 ft/sec with hand loaded 900 grain woodleigh bullets. Those 2 beasts have horrendously brutal recoil, as one would expect. It kind of feels like a train wreck when the gun goes off. I will be the first to admit that these are not the most practical guns to own, but they do wake you up when they go off. My 460 weighs 4 lbs 8 oz., and the 600 weighs 5 lbs 9 oz. I guess some of us just have a different idea of fun!

One hand or two?
Do you wear hockey goalie gear when you shoot?
Ever fractured your wrist or skull while shooting?

Actually, 2 years ago, the first time I shot the 460, it exploded on me. The barrel ripped the 2 1 1/2" welds off the frame and landed about 30 feet in front of me. I did get a broken wrist and a severely cut trigger finger. I shot it bare handed. I now use a heavy pair of leather gloves and tape up my trigger finger first. I had the gun repaired with heavier welds and shot it twice more right after my wrist healed. The gun stayed together and I was able to shoot it with out being physically hurt. I have not shot it in 2 years. I use a very tight 2 handed grip, not like the idiot on U tube that lets the 600 nitro fly out of his hands and damn near decapitate himself.

That video might be the funniest thing I have EVER seen! There are a few versions, but the version with the slow and veeeerrrrrryyyyy slow replay is the best. I'm laughing just thinking about it.

That guy would not listen to the owner of the gun at the time. He thought he knew the best way to hold it. I agree, the video is hilarious and I get a chuckle every time I see it. Even though the guy deserved it, I am glad he didn't get seriously hurt.It still would be a funny video though!
