Simply a masterpiece. It would be cool to see a projectile or the muzzle of this beast in comparison to something of normal size. Rodney.

The rifle is supposed to be shipped out to me on Friday the 18th, so I hope to have it the following week. A few screws still need to be blued and an adjustment on the trigger is being finished up this week. I will take pics as soon as I get it. Thanks KID for posting the pictures for me.

Outstanding Bigdoggy700, I know it was mentioned somewhere in here before but what is the I.D. of the bore on this beast? Will this rifle be shootable and what is an estimated energy for the missile launched from this cannon? Just wondering. Rodney.

Rodney,
This is a true 2 bore with the inside diameter being 1.325" and the balls will weigh 3500 grains. The gun is capable of 1500 ft/second with these balls, but I won't load it that hot. First of all the gun did not end up weighing as much as we thought it would. It weighs between 21 and 22 lbs, we were thinking it would come in at about 28 to 30 lbs. I will probably start with about 200 grain s of powder and work up to whatever I can handle without being hurt. I have been shooting big bores for about 25 years, but it is no fun at all to really get hurt by one of these monsters.I have had that happen before, cut tendon and a broken wrist. I am a little more cautious now that I was 25 years ago. I have a chronograph now, so I will just see what I can handle. I am looking forward to shooting it!!! I will keep everyone posted on velocities when I shoot it, and let you know what the recoil is like. Steve Zihn does do nice work and I am quite proud of how this project turned out.

Bigdoggy 700- Fantastic rifle and all I can say is WOW!. BTW I used to fire my BOWLING PIN MORTAR with 7LB Potted epoxy PINS with 200gr of FG. They used to go .5 miles UP and 700yrds OUT. You the man. Even I would NOT SHOOT THAT LOAD!-Rob

You should be proud of that rifle it is amazingly beautiful. I love the metal wood fit and the engraving to set it off is perfect. Have a good time shooting it.
Take good care,
Dave

+1

Tasteful, nice but not too fanciful.

The metal wood fit is a work of art.

PS you need 3700 grains to get .3 SD Eeker!!!

I am afraid that 3500 grains will have to do. That is what my bullet mold is made for. I think someone else should get Steve going on another 2 bore project. He learned along with me on this first one.

Now that's a REAL big bore! The pics are great and I can't wait to see all of it. I hope you will do some videos of you shooting(or should I say exterminating/blowing up) various targets too. I've seen the destruction that a 4 bore can cause and it was awesome. I'm sure the 2 bore is that much worse....meaning better of course. The 2 bore would probably be considered overkill by most people even on a brontosaurus and you've got to be a hell of a man to be able to handle such "weapons of mass destruction" like the 4 & 2 bore rifles! salute

I've been a fan of yours ever since I seen you shoot the .600 Nitro handgun (T/C Encore I think it was) and you seemed to handle it like a .45 LC with cowboy loads! Not many would be able to stand behind the 2 bore shooting 3500 grains @ 1500 fps (that's 17,483 fpe by my calculations !) but I'd wager that you are one of them! I can't wait for more pics and a shooting review. Please keep us posted. WOW!!!! BOOM Cool popcorn

Shooter and Jeffive, no wheels for this baby. I will for sure get some still pictures shooting it, I don't know about moving pictures. I am not real good with electric gadgets. Most of the time, my computer, cameras, remote controls etc end up out the window at a fairly good speed, via air born and end up in many pieces.I always have to explain that "It seemed like the thing to do at the time" to my wife. I do not have a lot of patients with stuff like that. But a really good gun.... I can take hours playing around with and tinkering with. Funny how that works.

An update on my 2 bore. I received it to day from Fed Ex. and it is damaged. They must have beat the hell out of it to damage it like it did. The forearm is pulled away from the barrel a good 1/2". I can't believe that I have waited 15 months for this brute and not it will probably have to go back to Steve to be fixed. It may have to have a whole new stock made. Very disappointing to say the least. Luckily it was insured, I guess it will be later than sooner when I get to touch this beast off. The final rifle turned out great, thanks Steve for a great job.

Ken- Oh sorry to hear that. I always make a rule on any heavy gun to separate the stock from the barrel and double bubble wrap both. I have plenty of UPS and Fed ex horror stories to substantiate that decision. What a bummer. !-Rob
