Thanks. The stock is finished except the exterior/cosmetic finish. It is shootable now.
However showing it right now would be like posing this baby in a very dirty diaper.

So, are you going to shoot it and show us some targets, or wait until the paint is dry?

The stock exterior needs filling and sanding before painting. I'll be shooting it anytime I can as I go. It is internally as stout as a steel and epoxy reinforced MPI can be.
It will be two weeks before I can shoot some cast lead to fireform. Hopefully a target of squirrel load results and some fireformed brass then. Too bad some of us have to work and keep up with the family thing, or I would get it done sooner.

What rear peep sight is that?

That's my favorite kind of baby picture. If you guys need a possible cast bullet to shoot, you may look at Midway. #169611 Is a cast 330 gr for 40 cal paper patch projectiles but it is 0.395". Just an idea. I am thinking about a 300 gr in .365 for my economical 9.3 X 74R loads. Good luck with the 395s. Packrattusnongratus

First ever .395 exterior ballistics: I will be a while yet in getting sufficient quantities and time to shoot .395/340-grain GSC HV, FN, and SP's to do some expansion testing (HV at 1500 fps to +2500 fps), top end chronographing (HV and SP at +2800 fps?) , and trajectory checking out to 600 yards (HV and SP). We already know the terminal ballistics of the FN is foolproof in the proper size barrel (.395 groove and .387 land diameter) with a 12" twist.

Yep, best kind of baby picture.
from Buffalo Arms, and more on backorder from them and Midway, I got the .395/400-grain cast lead bullets designed for paper patching up to .400 or .401 BP calibers, as you say.
That 400-grain lead bullet is about the same length as the 340-grain GSC FN. It should serve for fireforming and barking squirrels, or head shots if any of the squirrels charge me.

Thanks. Good choice on your plans. The .510 JAB has that screwed and soldered on front ramp with the elevation adjustment. That barrel was so fat I could not find a banded front sight big enough unless it was custom made.

The GSC barrel profile is very easy to fit anything to, being close to .700" at the 26" point on the blanks.

It is a baked on finish Kevin does in various colors (this dark gray, or olive drab, or black, and more) like Wilson Gunkote, close as I can tell. He calls it "Seal Paint" as in the Navy Seals like it. it is tough, I have yet to scratch or chip any of several guns I have in this finish by him. The barrel is stainless. All parts were matched in gray except the front sight was black.

The light colored crud along the ejection port has since been cleaned off, it was a little residue from the bedding work and wiped off with solvent.

This finish is impervious to anything I know of. It will not chip or rust. I prefer it to any bluing, and it takes to stainless or chrome-moly equally well.

Theres many wildcatters thats has gotten their cartridge factory approved. Yours is something new, a new breath of life in a trade that hasnt invented new bullet diameters in years.

The .395 Tatanka is the best that has ever been or will be.

I will stick with the GSC in my air rifle, especially since it makes my magic 2700 without undue pressure and of course it's the most efficient.

But the Tatanka is the end-all of cartridge developement. It will never be bettered, cet.par.
