The was an Outschar DR in 500 NE making its way around the market a couple years ago, but in 500 Jeffery, I assume it's a magazine rifle?

That is another M03. Things are slow in Ferlach, I am still waiting for it along with another barrel in 500 MDM.

1. Weight.
2. LOP.
3. Barrel length.
4. Magazine capacity.
5. Manufacturer of the action.

My condolences, but please do not throw that rifle in the dumpster!

No, I am not shootaway. The 500 Jeffery is my pet peeve, that is all.
Enjoy it if you can, until maybe you get it re-barreled to something else.
Or just send it to me and I will try to figure out some wildcat for it that will make it more functional.

Actually I did not order that bent handle but I have found it to be much easier to grab and lift up the bolt, especially in a rush.

Very nice indeed but as has been said, I'd recommend you shoot it before taking any weight off of it. My own .500 Jeffery weighs 12.5 lbs & also has a mercury tube recoil arrestor in it & whilst handleable in recoil, it's still a significant belt.

How long is the barrel?

On the weight of the gun, I concur with those who have posted. My guess is that the recoil on a .500 Jeffery approximates that of a .505 Gibbs. My Gibbs weighs just shy of 12 lbs. naked, and just over 14 lbs. loaded with 5 cartridges, the scope mounted, and sling attached. Shooting 600 grain Woodleighs in front of 135 grains of H4831SC, I am grateful for every ounce the gun weighs.

I would be concerned taking that hunting, the rifle would probably gain a couple of pounds in weight with the amount of blood that engraving could hold

... shows a screw-detachable cut-out plate with the engraving on the front receiver ring showing through the hole?

Is this some part of an ingenious, aesthetic scope mounting system, or provision for one?
I am still learning about this kind of stocking stuffer.

RIP,

That is a Recknagel ERA base installed into a Mauser 98 square bridge. Most of my guns have either Recknagel or EAW mounts and rings systems. They are excellent systems.

I am afraid I would not be much help with Jeff's action recommendation, but I would say you can build .500 Jeff from any large magnum action, provide it is a good strong action.
However, getting it feeds properly and reliablely would require a master gunsmith job.
