Looks cool!
I think this would be a pretty cool lever action rifle chambering for a rebarreled 348 Win or single shot. Factory ammo through RWS!

Why not a Winchester 1895 .405 lever action?
300 grain ammo from Hornady at 2225 fps.
Hand load from 210 to 400 .

No doubt that is a cool gun and cartridge. A different flavor of the same cuisine. I wish I had one.

WRT same cuisine - they do shoot the same diameter bullets.

Woodie .411 and Hornady .410 400 grainers loaded to 2100 fps give similar ballistics. Cool

The above pictured rifle has taken Cape Buff with 400 grain Woodies and Asian water buff with 300 grain North Fork CPS and they both shot through. Both also at less than 50 yards.

The .405 WCF makes a good double rifle also:

The 10.3 x 60 R Swiss in modern loading is very popular in Europe ! It was used for target shooting and hunting ( driven hunting)

It fits very well with the type of hunting they do and the rifles designed for Forrest hunting.
Single shot and multi barrel German and Swiss guns were and are chambered for this caliber

In Switzerland they have a 40 cal minimum caliber limit for hunting in their hunting preserves and thus the 10,3 x60 R remained popular long after it's British counterpart became redundant.

RWS have taken the 10.3x60 R to the next level by creating what they call their "Smart magnum" 10.3x68 and they did so in partnership with Blaser and Sauer. "Smart" because they have specifically designed low and high performance loads chosen specifically for a hunting style.

The attraction of the cartridge it's its low recoil and inherent accuracy ! They have really gone to town with modern bullet design on this one.

They specifically factory load it to duplicate a performance level somewhere between the 8x57 and the 9.3 x 62 with their 13 gram bullet to the performance of the 416 Remington magnum with their 26 gram bullet and they have done so in factory rifle offering with target precision capability.

I saw one at a gunshow this morning. It was an impressive round. I forget which manufacturer the box of ammo that was with it though. It was an older gun, not anything made currently. I looked more at the ammo then the gun as the gun was not for sale anyway. When someone holds up a round that big it gets your attention.

I have an Alex Henry falling block in this chambering (450/400 2-3/8”)
Have all the components and I think I have a usable mold for it too.
Just never got around to loading any up...
Need to move that to the front of the line soon.

A lot of Martinis in use in Switzerland, due to the Schuetzen time, but also Rugers, and other .40s is used a bit also, .416 Rem etc, but the 10,3 is sifficult to gwt around from. Also singleshot barrels for Blaser R93 beem made and used. Perhaps one of nicest is a Blaser K95 kipplauf in the round.
