I was wondering if anyone here has, or has shot the 510 NE? How do you like Mr. Echols creation? Is it picky to reload? Any quirks?

I assume you're referring to the one he built on a Hagn action using the 50-140 Sharps case? As I recall, his reasoning for using the Sharps versus the 3" 500NE was availability of cases at the time. D'arcy posts on here from time to time, perhaps he can elaborate?

Ed,

How low of pressure are you getting, and how much longer case length? What velocity/bullet weight? Etc.

The case is 3.57 in long, .578 base, .535
mouth, straight case made from 475 #2 brass.
Base is .013 bigger than 510NE. Slow ball
powder(H-870-AA8700-Wc-870) 90% fill, 2300 fps, 600 gr bullet soft jacket, long barrel, about 30-35k psi. Max load of W-760
at that case length, 2800+ fps.My only rimmed wildcat(IE with my name on it).Had couple cases stretched to 3.7(made chamber long. let brass stretch from firing) and got 3000 with 185 grs powder..Made cases semi-rimmed to test in
an Enfield bolt action(16 lbs). Will do one in future in a heavily weighted, heavy barrel
Ruger #1...Ed

Keith--At 16 lbs it works great, real thick pad,
it is just a good shove.Just roll with it,
open action, brass falls in shirt pocket
if your real good,I'm not,
pop in round as your coming back down,
close action, fire second shot. All tongue in
cheek description. But seriously it goes back to design;Ruger #1 is great gun, you add weight,
and it becomes a pussycat just like
my Ruger 77. I will have long
7 lb barrel, 4 lbs extra in butt.My 16.5 lb
Ruger77 here, Tailgunner put it to his shoulder,
pointed out window, said 'That points nice'.
And he is only half my size. Muzzle energy
is tamed by engineering and I've stole the best ideas out there to do it.Ed.
