i cant think of a reason why this is not done...

the 458 win mag and the lott with 45-70 bullets have the same col and the same throat.

you could rechamber the 458 win to the 458 lott without redoing the throat and shoot 45-70 bullets with the lott brass the same speed as the 458 win (500@ 2150)

it will be a tad more expensive than shooting the 45-70 but hey thats not much. a day at the range can cost $100 and up so this is a nifty idea to save money if you like 45-70 bullets and still have the ability to shoot 458 win mag ammo. a good thing is either are not wildcats also pimp'n aint easy...

no, the point is throwing 45-70 bullets fast and using regular 458 win ammo at regular velocities. if you use 45-70 bullets in win mag brass you lose case capacity and velocity. thats the point. throw 500 grain 45-70 bullets 2150 in the lott case and 500 grain rifle bullets in the win mag 500@ 2150. in a 3.4" col mag 458 win gun. you can save about 75 cents on every firing by using 45-70 bullets at the same speed as the 458 win.
