My all-around African Rifle is a "Dakota" Model 76 African Grade chambered in .416 Rigby. Topped off by a Leupold 1.5 - 5x. The wood is nicely figured & just starting to get some character secondary to being drug through Zimbabwe sand & dirt while crawling on my hands & knees chasing buffalo.
I believe the .416 Rigby is a stellar "all-around" caliber for Africa with a bit more punch than the .375 H & H. I like having it next to me when hunting in Dangerous Game areas.

An early .416 Rigby CZ 550 hogback fitted with a Leupold 1.5-5 IR scope with a 2.5 Compact as a spare. Has had trigger job, been bedded, cross bolted, recoil lug added and reenforced. Great rifle.

CZ 416 Rigby tricked out a bit by Jim Brockman. Leupold 3.5x10 in QD talleys, Brockman pop up peep sight. Nice piece of wood.

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

I have had a Taylor for several years, built on a vz-24.
Had a Rigby for a time but didn't care for the particular rifle -not the caliber and very soon I will be loading and shooting a 416 AR

A 416 taylor on a Ruger MKII stainless with a 25in douglas stainless barrel, a spec tech after market trigger and a 1.75x6 leupold scope.

I used the ruger factory stock glass bedded it and put a thicker recoil pad on. It weighs right in at 10lbs loaded and slinged.

Very accurate and kills things just fine.

I've gotten really fond of the .416 caliber. Right now I have a 416 Rem, 500/416 NE single shot, in a week or so I'll have the first 416 AR chamered and I have the reamer for a 416/505 Gibbs which won't get started until I finish these. After that it's going to be an experimental O/U rifle based on Jeffe's concept in his 577/550 sxs double but in 500/416 NE again. Basically a rebarrel of a decent Greener-bolt O/U.

My 416 Rigby is a CZ550 Safari Mag Hogback that I took a wood rasp to and now is sans the hogback and snabble (sp?) forend. It has been professionally bedded, re-crowned, and the recoil pad arched. It weares a 1.5 K-4 Weaver scope with Leopold Weaver style quick-detachable
rings. It's load is 101grains of H4831 (Scottish) with a 400 grain Hornady SP. Lots of fun! Am looking into a barrel band sling mount.
