Just back from the range with a chrono. result. 416 Rigby in a 25" barreled CZ. Norma brass,CCI 250 primer,400 gn Woodleigh soft,100gns AR 2209 (similar to but NOT identical to H4350),12 ft from muzzle-2560 fps.No evidence of excess pressure. Have used this on scrub bulls, brumby and pigs with good effect. This was the old stye projectile with the thinner jacket and did seem a little soft.Have not tried their newer design with the thicker jacket. Must be a faster powder than what I use (VV N165 or Tubal 8000) I need to get up near 104 to 105 grains of either to get any 400 grain bullet to 2500 fps. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Sounds potent a the least. How do those woodleighs hold up at that velocity and close range?

Wombat what sort of accuracy are you getting with that rifle/load combo...

I have only shot this rifle with the standard express sights. At 50 m it is easy to put all your shots into a 2" circle-the set trigger really helps. Thanks Wombat, been looking for a cz 416 Rigby for awhile now only problem you have to order one through a gunshop here in Vic. none on the shelves anywhere and then put down a deposit sight unseen, just putting me off I want to handle the thing before I fork out the money...

tracks... i have seen the c.z. they are kinda plane jane but you are getting an awesome strong and reliable platform to build on. imho, just do it and spend some good money on customizing and slicking the action. this is a working field use rifle and a good one. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. I believe H4350 IS AR2209 in all but name and is supplied by ADI to Hodgdon. (I read it on AR) John L.

In my CZ, 103 grains of N165, 400 grain bullet puts me right at 2370 when using a Hornady Solid (encapsulated). _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

100-grains H4831SC with 410-grain Woodleighs. 100-grains H4831SC with 400-grain RHINO molycoated "softs". 90-grains IMR 4831 with RHINO monometal "solids". All right at 2400 fps with GM215M Federal primers, Federal nickel-plate "brass". I can load 'em. Just need to learn to shoot 'em (better). BNagel _______________________

For what it's worth my Ruger likes 102gr of H4831SC. Around 2400 with any 400gr bullet. Good shooting; Brett

I think Jack O'conners load was 105 gr of H4831 behind a 400 gr bullet. I use 104 or 105 depending on the bullet. Gives great accuracy and about 2500-2540. You can load up from there but why. D Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

I have used H-4831SC, and RL-22 and the later is by far my most accurate powder. I shoot North Fork 370 grain, Hornady 400 grain RN, and Swift A-Frame 400 grain bullets. The North Fork bullet is my most accurate bullet by far. This past weekend I shot a one hole group with it using 98 grains of RL-22 and Fed 215M primer. By one hole group I mean all three shots touching each other. I used the North Fork bullet with a .416 Remington for my Buffalo in the Selous and it worked perfectly with 99.1 weight retention. Good shooting. phurley
