Thanks Bitteroot. Kid, you know I am left handed, I was tired of shooting with no cheek piece for that pretty face of mine. I have to admit though that I have shot so many right handed rifles over the years, that I don't notice much difference anymore. I think when it is all finished, it will be a pretty cool gun.

Steve Zihn is making it for me out of Wyoming. I believe the twist is 1:96. There are two more pictures of the gun that show the full rifle over on the nitro express forums. It is posted under the (paradox and bore guns) topic for anyone that want to see more pictures of the 2 bore. The format on those two pictures was different and we couldn't get them to post here.

The actual bore diameter is a true 2 bore at 1.325" I am not sure on loads. I am thinking 300 grains of powder should get the 3500 grain ball moving at about 1000 to 1200 ft/sec. I will have to test and see what velocities I get. I may start with 175 or 200 grains of powder for a starting load. Steve got the mold made but had to make a custom handle for it. Kind of like the gun a lot of custom hand built pieces. I was told by one guy that 550 grains of powder would get the ball going to about 1650 ft/sec. With a 21 lb gun, I do not think I could handle the recoil with 550 grains of powder!

Hog Killer,
The barrel is 36" long and has 8 grooves. The barrel and breech plug were made by Ed Rayl. The barrel is 1.75" at the breech
and has an outside diameter of 1.65". Ed was the only guy that could make me a full 36" barrel with a straight taper full octagon barrel.

Bigdoggy, That is some shoulder cannon project you have there. And I do mean CANNON.

I would have guessed a service load of 15 drams to feed it.(410gr)

Have you cast any RBs for it yet? To check out your mmold and the final cast size of the RBs and uniform roundness.

What are you going to patch 1/2 pound shot with, old blue jeans?

We WILL need video of you shooting this beast with at least a 15dr load, ar least once. jumping

KE from puter:
3500 grain ball
1000 fps: 7770 ft-lbs
1200: 11,190
1400: 15,230
1600: 19,895

Recoil from puter:
21 lbs. gun
3500 grain ball

assume 550 grain BP charge gives 1650 fps
1056.0 ft-lbs recoil energy
56.9 fps recoil velocity

assume 300 grain BP charge gives 1100 fps
418.0 ft-lbs
35.8 fps

Ouch. coffee
