Weatherby, hot on the heels of its Super VarmintMaster, Super PredatorMaster, Dangerous Game Rifle, Super Big GameMaster, and the Tactical Threat Response Rifle releases, is introducing the Super Game Shredder Ass Kickin' Master Mother Response Defender. Weatherby hopes this product, chambered for the classic .45-70 cartridge, will answer the imaginary market demand for over priced guns with exceptionally goofy names, while providing an outlet for yet another Weatherby product made from an ever diminishing allocation of proprietary Weatherby parts. Assembled under the dual supervision of Weatherby's Chip Labore and Chez E. Parts, the company sees this as yet another progressive step toward the commercial cloning of sheep, and nostalgic firearms design. At least it isn't a muzzle loader. $3,000 in blued steel, stainless models incredibly higher.

Hey.....the 45-70 just moved up in the world...it's now a "WEATHERBT".........or is that a step backwards?

Boom,

Are you sure a 4 bore gives you enough scratch space acceleration tolerance when you light the powder on his ass?

Talk about shooting monkeys in a barrel ( in this case cats )

I used a buddie's .45-70 GG today to rid the World of a nasty beastie, a Gateway Windows NT CPU that went all glitchie and then refused to boot up with the rest of the herd this spring. First 400gr LFN @ 1,900fps went through and through on a broad side shot at 25yds. The follow-up shot took out the hard drive before the engraged critter could turn and lockup on me in true Micro Soft fashion. Over on it's side with it's little pads up in the air! Wink

I'm sure there are better rifles for shooting feral puters, but the .45-70 is what we had at hand...
(common, you always WANTED to shoot a naughty computer, now didnt you?)

was there a death bellow?

next time do a c.p.u. shot to put its lights out if it charges

something like this deserves a good head and shoulder mount, a skull mount would be a waste...

Boom,

Why not the cat and a computer. Imagine a comic picture of a cat half in and out of a computer, head on one side, singed tail out the other.

Titled: Access Speed 2100 fps.

I admit, I have an 1895 Marlin in 45-70. I also know it has limitations. Would I take a cape buffalo with it...hell no, but the old warhorse with warm loads and decent 405gr + jacketed or hard cast bullets should make a fine short range sledgehammer on deer, black bear, pigs, and even moose. I think of it as a miniture mortar round Razzer

Now that is a lie! There is no way you could get that much penetration from a 45-70.

There was one good thing about the lousy rep of the 45-70. Years ago in our Northern Territory, one could easly get a license for a Marlin in 45-70 as it was classed as a "Toy".

So the lads bought them and loaded them up until
they were nearly useful. Wink

Will you guys ever get over this silly subject? Confused

The 45-70 cartridge is what it is! I love the old cartridge, and the very old rifles it was factory chambered in, but I love spears, swords, and muzzle loading vest pistols. I will collect anything with more than one barrel, black powder, or smokeless, and I consider them all dear to my shooter's heart. However I know the limitations of each one, and they all have them. The 45-70 is no different! It is an old cartridge that is still fun to shoot, and to hunt with, as long as you adhere to it's limitations, and use it for what it does best. It is a fine woods deer cartridge, it is a fine choice for bear over bait, it is most likely the best Moose round ever invented for tight willow hunting, but there is where it's usefullness ends, on game.

It will kill a Cape Buffalo if absolutely everything is perfect, it can also get you killed if everything is not perfect, if used for Cape Buffalo hunting.

Guys leave it alone, and let it be what it is, a fun cartridge, the shouldn't be taken too seriously, past paper punching, gong ringing, and deer hunting in the woods where the range is short! It is good, but it is not magic! beer
