Pics of Finished M98 1909 .404 Jeffrey
Hi Folks,
here are some pics of my .404 Jeffrey built on a 1909 M98; General Specs
Lothar Walther #1450 .423"Barrel finished at 23 1/2
English Walnut Stock
1/4 Rib 1 standing & 3 folding leaves
Blackburn Trigger
Rednackgel 3 position saftey
Custom Talley Bases
I am very happy with the rifle and it fits me like a glove, as no other rifle I own does.
It has taken 2 1/2 yearsbut has been worth the wait.
Intend to add some talley rings and a scope at some stage.

That would be a nice cart boom! It would be 150-200 over the 10.75x68

at 68mm you would have a cal length neck and fit a std mag length action.
that neck is sooooo long it makes it possible. one of the best things is it is not a wildcat! you just cant use factory ammo but if you have a jeffrey you would probably reload anyway. dies would be easy to make, just grind a regular 404 reamer, new barrel and voila! no more 7mag heloooooo jeffery

sorry for the hijack

Thankyou everyone for the kind remarks, I hope one day to be able to shoot a buffalo with this gun.
My photos of it have not turned out as good as I'd like but hey I aint no photographer

Problem is after receiving this rifle I want another one the same in .500 J and .375 H&H.................I hope the missus does not read that

Stu,
Ross Waghorn did indeed do the stock, and Rodger Vardy supplied the blank, I am unsure of whom Bob out-sources his engraving work to.
here are some pics of the 1/4 rib as requested.

interboatNow that's a beautiful rifle. Compare it to the 505 Gibbs some guy built on an Enfield and put in a rubber stock on another thread.

ozhunterThat is a nice rifle PC.
On my last hunt to Zimbabwe my friend used a custom 404 very similar to yours, infact made by the same people. His rifle feels and worked great and no doubt yours will to.
I recomend you take it across to Zimbabwe or similar and hunt ether Buff, Jumbo or Hippo with it, plus some plains game.
Do you have a scope lined up for it? if not I would recomend a 1.4to4 S&B "MAG" Scope.
Cheers,
ozhunter

Ozhunter,
I do intend to go to Africa one day although If I hunted Buff I would be tempted to take my .458 lott or .585 Nyati.
The scope will be a little ways off as the missus and I are about to build a house.
I was thinking Khales might make a 1-6 and that would almost be as good as the swarvo & s&b and be a little nicer on the $$.............Leupold is also a good option a 1-4 or 1,5-5 is always a good choice but If I can I would like to put a Euro scope on this one, it's just a ways down the track at the moment (and I also really want a new U/O shotty)

rolexfanA beautiful job! Great wood along with very tasteful metal work. A rifle to be proud of.
Magnificent looking rifle and I really like the work and the action you selected. What kind of work was done to the magazine box to properly and reliably feed the 404 and is the 1909 action long enough to accomodat or does it require significant cutting? jorge

Jorge Bob made whole new bottom metal and mag box and opened up in the rear as much as he had to I am una-wares if he took much out of the front but he said he prefers to take it from the rear as much as possible I recall him saying.
Thankyou for the kind comments.

Just a great rifle - nicely done!
