You need some with a rim for single shots and double guns.

.395/.405 Win.
.395/.348 Win.
.395/.45-90 X 2.6"
.395/.450-.400 X 3" Nitro Express

Also a few that look like old African rounds with long shoulders.
Smooth feeding in the right set up. They look old but can be standardized with higher pressure.

.395/.404 Jeffery
.395/.425 Westly Richards

For the dimmunitive bolt gun a
.395/.240 Weatherby

For a TC Encore or Marlin 336. This should feed better than a straight case.
.395/.444 Marlin

.395/ 06. I'd Call it .395 Harris- Springfield.

.395 on both a .404 J full size improved case and a case cut to the standard length?

.395/ .404 Improved aka .395 Big Bang
.395/ .404 Standard Length aka .395 SABB( Standard Action Big Bang)

I'm having visions of .395 calibre rifles in every house. You guys have a winner on your hands thumb

This bullet could be wildcatted on anything from size of .30-06 case head to 50 BMG!

The .395 SP bullet could be the basis for a ".395 Whisper" type subsonic cartridge.

ireload2's .395/240 WbyMag would be about perfect. thumb

The .395 HS = .395/.30-06 = .398-06 as noted above.

The .395 Harris-Springfield ought to deliver a .395/340gr GSC FN at about 2200 fps ???

my goal would be to shoot the soon to be 300 gr .275 s.d. bullets @ 2300 Big Grin

no worries...it will take a few years for the 395's to catch on so you can call it what you like and nobody outside a.r. will be the wiser Wink

rip ~N~ friends...

another easy rip-off...

any 9,3 can be a 393 dancing

or 398 Roll Eyes with slightly more work but with the benefit of less confusion or more conformity.

393 x 62
393 x 64
393 x 66

i'll dub the 395-9,3x66 the 393 simba
the 395-9,3x62 p.g. (plains game)

the 393p.g. will be an easy headstamp over the 06...

anyone want to dubb an aircat a t.h.s. (texas heart shot Big Grin)

You and I will have to duke it out in the civil court for the air rights with bajjilion dollars in royalty money at stake, you know Cool

I still have the right to the following cartridges

.395/.416 Taylor aka >395 Harris
.395 Big Bang (.395/.404)
.395 SABB (.395/ .404 standard)

Another question,
Do you guys think .395/.416 taylor would be a good idea or should I do the .395/.338 with the slightly shorter case?

RIP,
In March 2005 eddition of rifle magazine, Brian Pearce has an article on alaskan master guide Ed Steven's rifle and he claims that his .411 Hawk shoots a .360 grain Hawk and .350 Grain X between 2200 and 2350 in his browning 1895. Considering that, .395 HS should do a bit better than 2200, don't you think?

Let's do the cartridge on an improved 06 case like the HAWK for a little more juice.

boom stick and Harris,
No need to duke it out. You can both come up with your minor variations in shoulder angle and neck length and make them unique.

The .395 Brown-Whelen ought to do 2300 fps with 340 grain FN. thumb

this 9,3x66 version will give the advantage of an extra down and enough performance for anything (just under the 375 h+h. the 9,3x66 gets 286 gr@ 2540 fps with 4090 ft lbs of energy) i think 340's @ 2400) with the 06 boltface...

i think an extra 10 thou of the body blown out is in order to give a 20 thou per side of shoulder.

Since we've listed ALMOST every conceivable wildcat air cartridge for the new wonder bore of 395, I'd like to add the 25-395ACP (the 25 acp necked up to 395) to the list and claim my rightful place in history as it's inventor.

What it would be good for...well, I haven't thought that far just yet...what it could do that can't already be done better....ditto, how to make dies or the bolt face....same.

But at least no one can accuse me of not jumping on the bandwagon.

The best name seems obvious to me:
.395 IGMTHBCAHPUCPAP
(I’ve Got so Much Time on my Hands I Blatantly Choose to Avoid the Hundereds of Perfectly Useful Cartridges Plenty Adequete for my Purposes)

Seriously, the numbers seem fine but bullet availability, etc. just makes it seem like too much of an uphill battle for me to steer away from the stuff that’s worked for so many years (and that I have thousands of rounds for already).

Best of luck with the project,
Kyler

torque,
That is just a catchy slogan for Gerard to consider.

If the .395 GSC will do 2700 fps from a 26" barrel with those 340 grainers in a 12" twist, I could certainly live by it alone.

However, I have been with the same woman for 31 years, and don't plan to limit myself to one rifle as well. Wink

should easily get 3600 fps with a 316 gr bullet and I could get my smith to do a switch barrel on my current .585 Nyati, I would also purchase a new leupold 8-25x50 with Varmint reticle pre zeroed in some talley's and it could double as a long range starling rifle dancing
