The recoil pad needs to be thicker, about 12" thicker.

I'm going to have to disagree with DR and Cal here.

While I don't find the cartridge itself to be useful on either, (sorry Cal) I find the 700 to have been executed very nicely with many fine touches.

The 600 however is another matter. Looks like a kindergarten school child did the engraving of both the maker's name and the opposite side "Patent". The letter sizes don't match, nor are they straight. The remainder of the gun looks good, but that "stamping" on both sides of the receiver is a complete turnoff for me.

For example, 21st picture down, look at the "600" stamped on the barrel. The middle digit "0" isn't round or oval. Looks like it was scratched by free hand into the metal with a dull nail. That "0" has three sides to it, almost like a triangle with rounded edges. Then, just to the right, on the receiver, we see a part of the makers name. "DON" The "O" is smaller than the "N" and not aligned correctly. Then the opposite side "Farquharson's Patent". Not withstanding that the letters are not aligned correctly, but the first "s" and second "S" after the apostrophe are not even of the same style! The word "Patent" is spaced to read "PA TENT" and the E is misaligned. Unless this is some particular style that I'm not aware of and showing my ignorance to, it just ruins the piece for me. If it is some type of "style", I don't care for it at all!

Todd:
My comment was the cartridge, not the rifles. I didn't even look at the .600 pic. My comment was from a historical standpoint only.
Cheers,
Cal
PS. Mike: I will hire you as my exterminator with your .600 single.

I would want a 12 bore. More useful and about the same size. Think of it as a heavy shotgun.
