Got "Boared" so hence another Boar Basher !
This is a Browning A-Bolt Stalker 12ga 3" Rifled Barrel Slug Gun...Barrel was shortened to 18" and threw one of Doug's Burris Euro 4's on it,a 30mm 1.5-6×42 Illuminated Scope with really great glass and German#4! Came out Looking like a African Express with the Fat Barrel and Drop Mag...It can push Custom 1043 Hard Cast "projectiles"at 1100 fps and punch Y'uuge Holes though both sides of anything( at the Linebaugh Seminars this load beat everything incl the African stuff) or Dixies TriBall loads of 3)60cal 300 gr hard cast balls that group 8" together at 40yds!
Whatcha think for a $1200 rig?! tu2

It looks like fun. I'll keep an eye out for an Abolt shotgun...you don't see many of them around anymore Cool

Savage has some nice 3"-chambered bolt guns for 12ga and 20ga.
The latter is good for a ".615 Express."
Don't forget the Mossberg Ultimag pump with 3.5" chamber in 12ga, and fully rifled barrel.
I'd call that the ".730 Express" to distinguish it from the 3" version.
I have 1400-grain slugs for the .730 Express,
works well in plastic hulls,
and 900-grainers for the .615 Express.

Those look rather lively. How does that Browning Silver action do with the heavy projectiles? Any cycling issues?

Recoil out of the Abolt...how bad is it? I am guessing these reloads are quite a bit hotter than a factory 12ga slug

Using brass cases another 200f/s could be gained, at same pressures, I suppose.

Interesting. I generally don't like the German #4 but it'd be fine for a shotgun. As far as recoil, that can all be controlled with loads. Many variables for a shotgun. Slugs, sabot, buckshot.

What does the recoil compare to with those really heavy slugs?

Obviously the action is front-locking strong - but is the barrel reinforce much thicker than in other shotguns?

As a kid I shot ordinary rifled slugs out of my father's Mossberg bolt-action. It had what appeared to be a fat chamber reinforce but was not heavy. I wonder if its one-lug lock-up would withstand your loads.
