I have scoured the forums for photos of the above cartridge but to no avail. Has Saeed ever posted a photo of this or the 375/416? Ride hard, shoot straight and speak the truth.

I have made a 416 Rigby Improved. Hunted with it in Zimbabwe. Shot elephants, lions, buffalo and other plains game with it. I also have a 375/416 Rigby sort of. Talking to Mr Lazzeroni, I asked him to neck his 416 to 375. He kindly agreed, and built me a rifle for it. He did not have any 375 brass, so sent me 416 brass, and a 375/416 die. Again, I used it on one safari in Africa. Great velocity, I think I was hunting with 300 grain bullets going at 3140 fps. Trouble was it did not have good penetration. I did penetration tests here, and found about 2700-2800 fps with a mono hollow point bullet like the Barnes X and our own Walterhogs, penetrate most.

Being a curmudgeon I see no reason to "improve" a 416 Rigby. It shoots a 400g bullet at 2400 fps with pretty low (by todays standards) pressure. It should be enough, if it's not go with a 500 Jeffery or 505 Gibbs. Once again just my two cents from a cranky old guy lol. Yes. You sound like some who is happy to put up with a 60 year old mother! Instead of her 20 year old daughter! ![]()
