Say you have 3 rounds based on 375ruger; 9.3/375ruger-320wl bullet 375ruger-300tsx,350wl bullet .416-.423/375ruger -320hv(.423) or 330hv(.416) lets put them all out at about 2500mv, Those .400calHV are very appealing, easily launched at 2500mv,with lower pressures and without any extra recoil than the similar weight smaller bore cupcores. which would you prefer to hunt with?(including nasties like buff, lion,BigBear) Cenario one: Big enraged Browny or Cat charging down on you at 50yds, which would you rather whack him with? Cenario two: Buff at 100-150yds, .40cal 320-330hv, well up to the task? Cenario three: .40calHV, still good traj. and serious mojo to covincingly put your bull Eland/Mooses' feet in the air at 300yds?

To simplify the question Diameter vs S.D. in the same weight and velocity on dangerous game. Being that D.G. was introduced to the equation the 375 would be best would it not? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Woodjack, Thanks for using my picture. I got lucky with the focus on that one. In the .404 Jeffery with 24" barrel, 2700 fps is easy with Varget. Very accurate out to 300 yards with a 10" twist McGowen barrel. No pressure worries in an M70 Winchester. That is the original "African Sheep Rifle" concept-bullet. Adequate for anything except elephant brain shooting. Switch to solids there. That is my pick of your three. Of course a .395 would be nice too.

[QUOTE] by RIP:.395/340-grain HV and FN....easily do 2500mv... [QUOTE] A worthy contender indeeD!, I will split the dfference between .395-340hv&.423-320hv and take .416-330hv cause of the bigger bore than .395 and sleeker HigherSD pill than .423 ....and sleep soundly on that You either get behind something like that with a Bigrin( ),or qUicK shake the Sh*t offa yer BooTs, and Get d Hell oUt of its waY!!!.. ..................................

Since I have one .395 barrel at the house and just ordered another one today; and since I have a Ruger lefthand MK-II ready for one of those barrels when the reamer arrives; and since I have a Ruger #1 awaiting the just ordered barrel and a reamer... .395 cal, 340 HV and FN bullets are my choice. Since neither is ready, but my .375H&H is in the gun rack, I'll "run whut I brung" with a any premium 300 grainer or heavier for all three .395 Family Member DRSS, po' boy member Political correctness is nothing but liberal enforced censorship
