SW-- Ed here-- I will soon have brass here in the US from a large run
of cases that Bertram in AUS made for us. You can get in on the first
run of cases for 3 bucks each , with minimum of 100 bought.
Still time to get in on it for $300 for 100 cases. If you are in AUS
you can get them from him.

I have die sets here for $194, CH4D makes dies;
Manson makes reamers and I have reamers for your smith to
use or I'll ream it cheap, once it has barrel on it.
I will soon have barrels being done at McGowens. They
are getting set up this summer.

AS for actions I put one in Savage 112 but other actions are easier
to do, because of the way extractors are built...MRC PHs
and Enfields much better. Ruger #1s are perfect also.Ed

ED

What is the weight of the 585HE on the NO #1? My guess it needs a muzzle break. Can you give me the name and contact info of someone who would build me one on a NO#1 I provide? Oh, would you have an idea of the approximate cost?

Thanks ED!

Mark-- Depending on how heavy of 585 barrel and amount of weight in butt, and
double-thick pad, they can be from 10 to 13 lbs. Unless absolute max loads,
it shouldn't need a brake, just put on a barrel that is as long as
a shorter barrel and a brake combined. Like 26-27".

I can chamber for you, if you find a smith to get barrel on and profiled.
Any good smith can do that. And we can rent him a reamer also.

There is a smith in TN or KY that RIP mentioned on here a while ago
that he says is good, and if you and others go with him I'll
furnish a reamer for his collection. I'll find his name.

I don't know what other smiths charge, But when I find him I'll ask him..
We are hoping barrels will be about $225. McGowen does profile and
install barrels for extra money also I understand. I can supply a reamer.
Or I can ream and test fire for a hundred.

Don't forget supply of cases.Ed

am currently working a project on a 1917 enfield unfired unused deactivated new in perfect condition(if you want it restored you had your chance) in 378 weatherby with very long stainless barrel to utilize very long range bullets, however as funding becomes available the 585 should finalize my collection. Prepare yourselves. Am preparing next venture.

Mark-- I personally like those Enfields the best of all.
I fouhd a way to set them up with singlestack mag and super
long cases, by building a mag and putting the sear spring on
the back of sear. That way we can open bottom of action
and with single-stack we don't have to widen it out much.
Here is picture showing it.In picture you see the rear spring for sear
and the mag box built with savage 300WIN mag box inside a PH
mag box. It is a model I built to test with.
It butts up to botton of action tight and secure.Makes it
easy to set height perfect for feeding. Use about any follower
and it can be solid bottom stock or floor plate and it loads
through the springy top lips from the top. Less than One days work makes
a mag and does all the conversion( removing ears, regrinding, shaping action,
opening port, building mag, converting sear spring, opening bottom, etc).Ed

Ed here- You get SB2 NEF in 10ga heavy barrel or 12ga Ultra.
Ultra usually comes with scope rail on it. Either About $300.

Work to monoblock in a barrel into NEF and chamber $300.

To put barrel in an Enfield bolt gun $200. Enfield and stock

cost about $300 depending on stock.

I sell the package of barrel, dies, 50 cases for $600--If 100 cases $750.

In singlshot bolt gun I can set it up with a singleshot Enfield.

Got a guy setting up one with heavy target barrel, gonna see

if he can shoot MOA at long ranges.

We can look around and find NEF/H&Rs.Some on Gunbroker. And I have

few extra sporterized enfields here. Ed
