Okay, since I've been on this board I've slowly been preparing myself for a trip to Africa and toying with my "Big Bore" has been a learning experience, a bit of fun, and a bit pricey. I haven't really shot it a lot because of all the tinkering I've been having done to it. I really want to wack a Cape Buffalo with it , and maybe a big black bear. Here is it is: a Winchester Stainless Classic, .375 H&H, that I think I bought from 500grains (but I can't remember); it came with a muzzle brake but now has just a threaded cap (the brake is stored somwwhere); it's got a D'Arcy Echols Legend stock in olive green, with a Decellerator recoil pad and it was fitted by McMillan (I think they are really nice, but unless you want to finish it out yourself.) BTW, Mr. Echols is very nice to work with.; the scope is a Vari-X III 1.75-6x32 (back scope is a Leupold 2.5x20 VX-II lightweight), Leupold QR rings with extensions on the front (not just real happy with that set up, but it does what I need it too), and it's got a Hunter's Leather carry strap. I'm thinking of sending it to Pinaire for fluting the barrel to knock the weight down a bit and get the balance point between my hands, not out front so much. As is though it is close to done ready for action. Last photo is what it started as. If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.

redlander, very nice. you can never go wrong with a stainless m70 375. i know what you mean about the overhang bases. Is there still holes for a front sight. if so i would put the front sight back on and buy some brockmans pop up peep sight which come in talleys so you could still have back up sights and i dont think the talleys would overhang.. just a suggestion.

Personally I would put on a black teflon finish. They match the matte finish Leupold scopes nicely. (I have the same rifle and scope mounts but a 2x7 Leupold)

I have considered that and it's always something I can do in the future. I'm going to stick with stainless or fluted with black flutes. D'Arcy Echols recommended that I leave the stainless as is because it will absorb less heat while perched in a gun rack in Africa. We'll see. Thanks for looking. My 375 is an Interarms Mark X, re-do that someone spent a little money on to get it to shooting right. The only big game I have taken with it was a Musk-Ox, a cow elk, and some Texas Whitetails if you want to call those Big Game. I really enjoy shooting it, and if I was forced to only have one rifle, it would be the 375. Even the rocks don't last forever.

That is a excellent set-up you have! I've been kicking around the idea of buying an Echols stock for a couple years....maybe it's time.

Looks like an excellent rifle. Just wondering what is D'Arcy getting for his Legend stock?

Does D'Arcy have a web site? My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
