boom stickwhich is better, 9,3x66 or 375 ruger???
which is better, 9,3x66 or 375 ruger???
they both have the entry level d.g. performance,
why would you pick one over the other?
i reeeeely like the idea of getting an extra round in the mag but the 9,3 dia bullet throws me off. nothing wrong with the 9,3 just more bullets and avaliability in 375 obviously.
they are both new rounds so there is almost equal footing there but ruger/hornady will have better avaliability.
and as you can see from lawndarts thread, 66 brass can be formed from 06 basic brass in a bind.
the 375x66 would be great but no factory ammo.
just comparing carts and not rifles the 66 has the edge with the extra round but the 375 ruger would be most practical.
if ruger came out with the 9,3x66 and sako the 375 would it make a difference to you?

500grainsMorally I am opposed to anything Ruger since Bill Ruger took a stand in favor of the assault weapons ban.
He died, I know, but still I cannot support a company that supports gun control.

GeorgeSDan,
The Ruger family divested itself of Ruger shares on September 26, 2006.
My boycott of the company is over (barring another sellout of gunowners by the company).
And BS,
With no .375 Rugers and few, if any, 9.3x66s in circulation, who could possibly answer your question factually?

boom stickgood point george...
mere speculation at this point but the dimensions and the laws of physics are universal so we will look past that and use scientific principals to come up with the best guesstimational (gratuitus made up word but still conforming to the english language) hypothisi (plural for the english impared)
this is more of a shooting philisophical and ideological query of longer less practical but more follow ups vs shorter more practical but less follow ups. ect with neither being all bad or all good but 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other...
which would you choose all things being equal and which in the "real world" (which george has kindly pointed in fact "is not real")???

GeorgeSWell, if you're not interested in facts, then the internet is the proper
milieu for you.

yes many a good hunter can be fine with a single shot but if you are crossing into the d.g. threshhold follow ups are more important especialy with a marginal (375 h+h category) non stopper gun.
hmmmmm...skeet with a rifle...hmmmm...

RhysI would have to go with the 9.3x66. Never hunt with a cartridge is younger than you are. SO exceptions may be made as some of our members would be limited to using cordite.

Yes it's cocked, and it has bullets too!!!

WoodjackBoomStick,
So ideally you want 375bore but with extra cap. of 9.3x66...Hmmm??
You not affraid of wildcating,
Howbout: 9.3x64Brenneke necked to .375
shoulder blown from .474 to .485"
shoulder angle 30deg.(from original 17deg)
Still good body taper.(same as 338win,358nm)
Blackburn made std depth M98 bottom metal for std.length belted magnums but with wider boxes and dedicated new followers that gave extra capacity. Im rather sure the Brenneke will sliver in considering its .507" head compared to .532", you might get 4 or more down + one up the spout.
-DropBox capacity without the drop, good 375gogo and no belt.
