A couple of days ago a friend called. He said he has a visitor who wanted to shoot the biggest rifle I have. I sent him the above photos of a 308 Winchester and a 338 Lapua Magnum rounds in the barrel of our 700 NE. He called back laughing his head off. He said his friend never even imagined anyone made a rifle this big!

So, when you get fouling in it, do you just climb in there with a belt sander and take care of it?

No idea yet. It is loaded with a 168 grain 338 caliber bullet! Probably have another one in 375, 416, 458 etc! Trouble is funding actions! We made it from 20mm brass rod, for fun.

What about .4285" ? You could rechamber a .444 Marlin barrel for that. Has to be a custom barrel as a Marlin 1895 take-off barrel might not be thick enough in chamber walls, unless Walter is going to test-fire the first (and last) shot. .458 WINCHESTER MAGNUM PERFECTION Non Illegitimi Carborundum

I could use mt special powder! Some years ago, a man I know came over. He is a bit of stranger. He used to tell us he uses his AK47 for 1,000 meter target shooting. Anyway, he came over while I was loading reduced charge 577 T.Rex ammo. In these I put about 50 grains of UNIQUE, and top them off with either kapok, tissue paper or Grex. Grex is what they use in shotgun loads to protect the pellets. It is a while powder granules. He saw all the cases full to the necks with this white powder. He said "Ah, you have new powder you have not given me before!" I thought that was a perfect opportunity for a joke! I quickly took the Grex bottle, and hid it behind my back, saying "this is an experimental powder. You are not supposed to know about it" He said, "PLEASE, PLEASE let me try some" "OK, I will give a little, and the load data for the 7.62x39" So I put some of it in another container, and gave it to him. A few days later he called, and said they all misfired! Measurement for our new cartridge is : Base diameter 0.759 Length 3.490 Body length 2.480 Shoulder length 0.460 Neck 0.560

I'd shoot it. Having already touched off 4-bore, 700 Nitro, 700 AHR, Owning a 600 Overkill for many years, and a host of other big bore rifles, I think it would be a fun afternoon. Andy We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club
