RobgunbuilderThe 750 gr bullets are a bit better IMHO. He would do much better if soeone showed him how to correctly hold the gun and roll with the recoil. It should never cause you to step backwards.-Rob

RobgunbuilderSafarikid- True its fun to watch, but I spend so much time trying to get these guys to not be afraid of the .600ok and then they see this with puny loads and then off they go.

BitterrootThe rifle is about as big as he is. I think he is about 135 lbs. dripping wet. He'll get the hang of it. I have a better quality video of it and he does have an ear to ear grin, as do all who shoot the 600 OK.

gumboot458I like how you say ( he,s a Small Dude )

. What it the velocity of that load ??
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

boom stickRob... Have you done a "600 express" Kinda like the 550 express but fatter? LOL 600 "Just about right" kill or 600 OK short.
2.65" case
Say 900 grains @ 2,000-2,200?
600 NE in a Ruger MKII???
Seems most dont shoot the 600 full tilt for obvious reasons so a shortie with nominal velocities seems interesting dont ya think?
Would be an interesting power package.
Just overthinking as usual...

RobgunbuilderBoomie- No never even considered it. Ig you dont shoot full tilt, load down. We originally wanted the .600Ok2 3.5 inch case. Turned out the .600Ok was more than anyone could handle and worked perfectly. Only a few .600Ok2 cases exist.-Rob

jeffeossoRob, its a .620 face, right?
27 July 2009, 22:24
boom stickFrom the drawing below .636" rim, .683" belt .656" casehead (I think these are a measurements from an actual case) and 3" long
If the 550 Express is cool why not a 600 Express?
Just overthinking as usual.

Hmmm,Come'on Rob,a 600 "Express or American"

...Lets see,we could chamber it in a BFR revolver or,seriously, maybe a short action Titanium glass stocked light weight, say 7 pds with 16" barrel, push 900s at 1800 and have a neat lil Hawg buster!

A 2.65" 600 Express on a ruger MKII would be a fun project

michael458I thought I recognized this fellow on the video. We had this same 600 OK here on the compound last week with it's owner and this fellow. Very nice fellow--he is very small, but he is a hell of a good shooter and ain't afraid of recoil!
These little 700 gr loads are only doing 1560 fps and I have been shooting this gun off the bench with these loads and it is a pleasant rifle to shoot, just a push is all, nothing like you see in the video! One could shoot these loads all day long.
We also did some shooting with 900 Woodleighs up to 1900 fps and it is still not an issue. We did some bullet test work too. I thought it was quite fun to be honest. Certainly nothing to be afraid of. Now I don't think I care to sit down with some 900s at 2200 or so either.
Oh Tom--that stock on the gun you are building is fantastic! That is going to be unreal when done!
