I would have to take my Winchester M70 in .300 Win Mag topped with it's 6.5x20 Leupold VXIII. I know it is alot of scope but I like to see and it is the only rifle I have unless my Mil Surp collection counts. My biggest problem would be ammo as if I were to leave tomorrow morning getting a load other than my 180 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip load would be tough. I have never worked up any other loads for the Nosler 165 and 180 grain bullet.

From what I have heard from my project manager who has been to Africa twice I am not sure I would feel under gunned for most plains game with my 180 grain BT load. Everyone talks about how fragile they are but about a month ago I shot at a steel spinner target I built with it just to see what it would do and it poked a 1/2 inch hole right through the 3/8 steel plate.
Given the chance though I would choose a premium 220 grain bullet though.

I'd take my Sherman built, Mark X action 9.3x62 with a Leupold Euro 3-9 on it. Very accurate, has killed everything I ever hit with it, and it does work on the smaller animals. Kudude

I'd pick my 375 RUM which I have only seen listed once so far.

In order to utilize the long range capabilities of this round and my aging eyes I installed a Leupold VX111 4.5-14X B/C reticle scope.

I seem to remember after WW2 the surplus rifles (mauser, enfield, springfield, remington & others) from all of the invading countries were left behind with a large quantities of ammunition that were used to bring down every species of african game. Why is there such a push to buy all of the mega bore rifles when 303,30-06,7mm & 8mm have done it just as efficiently and at a lot less cost.

Maybe this will answer you're question......

There is an saying that states....

"more animals were killed with a 303 than any other cartridge in Africa....

and more animals were wounded by a 303 in Africa than any other round"....

Only one huh, well I'd take my Win M70 .375 H&H, Leupold VX-III 1.75-6x32 loaded with handloaded 300gr Nosler Partitions. As a matter of fact that is what I am taking on my Plains Game hunt. We leave on Father's Day.

Now that is a beautiful rifle. I don't use that word very often other than to describe a woman.

I'm awe struck... thumb
