Off to Tajikistan in 2015. I'm interested in everyone's scope recommendations. I'll be shooting a 300 Win Mag with 180 gr bullets.

Yep, that or the z6 of the same specs will work well! Which area are you hunting?

I just bought that Z5 scope with the ballistic turret and horizontally MOA calibrated 4W reticle. Excellent combination.

I used the Swarovski Z5 in 3.5-18x44 with a ballistic turret and plex reticle. I was not left wanting.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Scope recommendations are depend of your shooting abilities. If you shoot at 200 meters, x10-12 power will be enough. If you are able to shoot 500-600 meters, you need x20-25 power. Start shooting long range and you will understand what you need.

I use a 3-20x50 (the newer compact model)Schmidt & Bender PM2 on my mountain hunts and I find it a really tough reliable scope that you can dial for elevation and windage, or use the reticle (P4fine)
