I could care less what Taylor Swift thinks or why she thinks her endorsement matters to anyone with a brain. I'd be more interested in what Travis Kelce thinks only to determine whether he has a brain and a pair or is totally pussy-whipped.

Well, she draws bigger crowds than either Trump or Harris and they pay a helluva lot more to see her, so take it from there.

I don’t like her music, or her particularly but she’s anything but a silly bimbo. She is evidently pretty smart when it comes to her business and she’s probably an order of magnitude smarter than Trump, tho that is a low bar.

I fail to understand why her, or indeed any celebrity’s endorsement is worth anything at all, but it obviously is.

Taylor Swift has millions of devoted fans who will be voting in their first election this November.

It matters.

Of course, Trump still has the endorsement of Ted Nugent.

Can't say that I've ever heard one of her songs, but I bet she could write a check for $450 mil.

As Harris and Trump debated, social media had its own war
By Stephanie Kelly
September 11, 2024 1:51 AM EDT Updated 10 hours ago

(excerpt)
As the debate ended, Harris scored the ultimate online victory. "Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight," Taylor Swift said on Tuesday to her over 280 million Instagram followers. "I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."

The post already had over 4.3 million "likes" on Instagram as of late Tuesday, two hours after it was posted.

========================================================

First three paragraphs:

NEW YORK, Sept 10 (Reuters) - While tens of millions of Americans tuned in to watch the debate between Republican Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris on their television screens on Tuesday, a secondary battle played out on social media's smaller screens.

From the opening moment of the debate, Democrats seized on Harris' walk across the stage to shake Trump's hand and introduce herself, posting videos and photos.

"Kamala said you’re gonna shake my hand dammit!" social media user Adam James Smith posted on X, to over 68,000 likes.

Let me tell one simple fact.

No matter what system you have.

Whoever rules makes the decision.

Just been watching what happened in the UK.

The Labor party won.

They have already started breaking all their promises!

You have two utterly stupid parties running an utterly stupid political system.

No matter who is ruling, the country keeps going downhill!

And each party supporters do not I g but name excuses! rotflmo

Fox News Host Asks Trump About Taylor Swift Endorsing Harris. The Reply Is Peak Trump.
Story by Josephine Harvey • 1h • 2 min read

“But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” he said.

He added that Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is “a big MAGA fan.”

“That’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift,” he said.

Everything Trump said is dubious.

Swift endorsed Biden in 2020 and has only gotten more rich and famous since.

Trump’s statement that he’s not a fan is also suspect. In fact, it seems like he’s been pretty interested in what she has to say — he’s brought up her coveted endorsement repeatedly during his 2024 campaign, and even shared artificial intelligence-generated images purporting to show “Swifties for Trump.”

According to recorded interviews with Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, Trump once gushed that the pop superstar is “unusually beautiful” and “talented” with “great star quality,” and wondered if she’s only pretending to be a liberal.

Setoodeh, who interviewed the former president at length for a book, said earlier this year that Trump is “absolutely fixated” on Swift because he sees fame as “one of the most valuable currencies in life.”

“And so Taylor Swift being one of the most famous people on the planet, and not endorsing him, is something that really matters to him,” the author said.

Swift, whose boyfriend Travis Kelce also plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, had already caught flak for remaining silent during the deeply consequential 2024 race. She endorsed Harris immediately after Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

What Elon Musk and Donald Trump, and a host of others, are slow to understand is that you cannot make jokes on social media. Any statement can and will be taken at face value. The lesson? When in doubt, keep quiet. If a statement can be misconstrued, don't make it. There is a level of obtuseness in play here, which is almost incomprehensible. Maybe a lot of money does that to you. Yes, Kamala Harris Owns a Handgun
In rebutting a claim from former President Donald J. Trump during their debate, the vice president asserted that she owned a gun, adding, “We’re not taking anybody’s guns away.”

“This business about taking everyone’s guns away — Tim Walz and I are both gun owners,” she said. “We’re not taking anybody’s guns away, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff.”

Mr. Trump also owns guns, though the New York Police Department sought to revoke his concealed carry permit after he was convicted of 34 felonies in May.

She didn't tell her fans to vote for Harris, she told them to get registered and do their own research on the candidates.

She's smart enough to know that anybody who does even ten minutes of research instead of blindly voting because of Party will conclude Trump is unfit.

Does anyone honestly believe that half of her fan base consists of Trump supporters? Further, does anyone think they would actually care?
How many Trumpeteers would abandon him if they learned that he was a Swift fan? I'm guessing none.
Let's face it, Trump could be photographed with a hooker made up to look like Taylor Swift and his followers would be fine with it.
If some fans decide to actually cast a voter due to Taylor's political statements, it might have a minor effect, but it's unlikely. Bill.

This is spot on! Anyone who does not think She can influence the election is delusional. Taylor Swift followers are a lot like Trump followers in that they will believe, REALLY believe in anything that their leader says. So if she says she is going to vote for Harris then you can bet that a LOT of first-time voters are going to vote for Harris. I would not be surprised that the number could be in the hundreds of thousands. That in the right places could be enough to swing the election to Harris so yes this is a big deal!

I think most of her fan base is apolitical and are no more likely to vote than before. Now, since most young people are likely to vote for whomever gives them the most free shit, they are likely to vote Democrat anyway.
Apart from this, my post was to the effect that her endorsement of Kamala would not hurt her career in the least. I do also believe it won't affect the outcome much, and I'll stand by that.

I agree that it will not affect her fan base at all. I did read somewhere that when she called for people to register to vote that she got something like 50K new people to register the first day. I would be willing to bet that the majority of them are voting for Harris. 50K may not be huge but is it definitely not insignificant.

Wouldn't that be beautiful? Especially if it's right and correct and the majority of the people think it would be right and correct? Versus a silly even more rich idiot like trump swinging the election?

As I've said many times....your country exists because of us. I know you resent it and I would too if I was you. It's embarrassing and kind of makes you our bitch. Hence, I understand your resentment. But, it's the truth. Coming from a country with pretty much zero ability to defend itself is kind of embarrassing. When Iran invades you and tries to take your oil revenue, please leave us off the call list unless you want your asses saved.

Let us see, Taylor Swift is an adult American who used capitalism to create extreme wealth for herself. She sued to gain control of her music catalog. Songs that she wore and were made a commodity on her back.

She suffered sexual assault in the work place and won in court simply on principle that what happened to her was incorrect, and no one was above the law.

She has been denigrated at every level of her career.

She is intelligent and more articulate than the GOP ticket.

She has the audacity to obtain her own wealth and control of her career, and date.

The Right attack her for engaging in our political system.

I know some want to make us more like religious controlled states where women are legally barred from engaging in politics due to civil enforcement of a conservative religious reading.

However, we are not. We should never be.

Congratulations on Taylor Swift being engaged in our system.

Taylor Swift knows the 2020 election was not rigged not gimmicked. Taylor Swift knows Trump has no claim of being denied the White House in 2020.

Taylor Swift knows Dobbs is bad policy.

Taylor Swift is better informed than most of the Right here.

I have very slightly more than zero admiration for Taylor Swift as a singer/songwriter (I really tried to like her music, for my granddaughter's sake, but just couldn't manage it), but I think she is a decent human being. For a Democrat, that is. I heard a couple of acoustic performances she did which didn't make me gag. Hence the above zero rating as a singer/songwriter. Regards, Bill
