That's the way it works in Alaska, at least. Bond or cash deposit.

The bond fee should be staggering--assuming someone will issue one at any price.

He is not permitted to operate a company in NY for 3 years. After the 3 year period, he is has to be managed and approved by independent court designated managers.

So much for, he is a successful businessman. He can run a country. When need President Trump the CEO in charge is not the pitch to me making.

He will have to put up a bond in the amount of judgement pending appeal. I wonder if President Trump has 355 mill lying around. I doubt a reputable bonding agency will touch him.

A minor detail: with "pre-judgment interest", as ordered, it's more like $450 million.

Yes, prejudgment interest here is 6 percent. It used to be 12. It sucks for the person found liable with damages Or disgorgement assessed.

This is not damages. This is disgorgement.

The distinction being disgorgement means this is how much money you stole.

If the judgment holds up, there will be post-judgment interest as well. I'm guessing the appeals will last at least two years, maybe three.

I hope the donald has a shitload of case stashed somewhere.

But, he doesn't. When the judgment is final and execution efforts commence, he'll just file bankruptcy. That's what he always does. Hopefully, the fraud findings will prevent him from that scoundrel's last refuge.

Come on, man. Have you not read the indictment? You can't misrepresent the value of properties pledged for collateral. It's fraud. What is it you don't get? It becomes OK to lie about assets when seeking bank loans? That's great until shit goes sideways and the banks that lent the money are shit out of luck.

The whole zero victims argument is a joke. Banks establish the terms of loans, e.g., the tenor, fees, rate, loan amount, terms, etc., based on the credit quality of the borrower. The fact that someone materially misrepresented their credit quality but paid back the loan does equate to no harm being done. If a bank loans money to two people on the same terms, one of which misrepresents his credit situation, and both loans are paid off, the bank has still been screwed since it would have never done both loans on the same terms in the first place. Sort of like shooting at someone and missing then claiming no harm, no foul. Such a specious argument.

Trump will keep Mar a Lago as his primary residence, and borrow a billion dollars using it for collateral.

You ever been directly involved in or represented a company borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars? Do you think banks come in with a team of auditors, appraisers and the like and spend weeks pawing through all the corporate records and accounts trying to ferret out fraud? Or do banks rely on audited financial statements, rating agency reports, contractual representations and warranties in the loan documents and the like? Ever signed a rep letter for a public accounting firm in connection with them issuing an audit letter? Do you think they will issue the audit letter without that rep letter? Blaming the banks for being defrauded and the harm they suffered by lending on terms inappropriate to the credit quality of the borrower based on the borrower’s lies and misrepresentations sounds just about as stupid as blaming the Capitol police for January 6.

. . . then you SHOULD know that in any major financing the lenders are relying in material part on a variety of third party sources of information, audited financials as well as extensive representations and warranties by the borrower. They are NOT independently verifying each representation by the borrower. That is why states and the feds have laws to protect lenders in situations where they are defrauded by the affirmative actions of a borrower . . . like Trump. Why do you think Trump and members of his syndicate lied in the first place? Might it have been because they were seeking the most favorable borrowing terms possible? Or maybe it was just for shits and giggles.

The State of New York is enforcing its laws prohibiting fraud. I guess if corporations intend on operating the same way trump did, you're right. They ought to stay out of NY and relocate to MAGA states that are OK with fraud.
